“Comfortable large cabins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2010

Stayed at the cabins here. Was too late to get one with an actual view of the lake, but in general, they're large, clean with full kitchens, screened porches, and satellite tv. Jocassee is a great place to kayak. Wrights Creek Falls and climbing up the base of whitewater falls are two fun activities, but if you don't have touring kayaks, the trip will wear you out!

“100 dollar ticket”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2010

Went to the park and rented a boat. Parked our car in a legal place but was given a 100 dollar ticket for blocking another car. Other in state cars and trailers were parked on top of no parking signs written on pavement another truck and trailer were not in a designated parking space across from us blocking the car as much as us which we weren't we had a space of twenty feet between us and the car. I took pictures.. We are from Florida and got the only ticket. Tried to talk to park ranger and he said he would come talk to us but changed his mind a few minutes later and suddenly had something to do. They must need money and feel out of state people can't go to court and will have to pay. Very unfair. Still a beautiful lake.

“Wonderful park, rude rangers and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2010

We camped at Devil's Fork in late April 2010. It is beautiful. Nice campsites and good shower facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Only complaint is that the rangers and park staff were abrupt, borderline obnoxious, and un-friendly. We camp all over the USA, and are accustomed to park rangers and staff who are proud of their park, pleased to answer questions, and very friendly. Pretty much the opposite here. Morale seemed low and they did not seem to enjoy their jobs at all. When we asked in the office about how we could visit the nearby dam (as many dams are open to the public), the lady chastised us like we were wayward children because the dam is not open to the public. How dare we ask such a question!!! Really...the employees all seemed miserable. Could give several other examples. Maybe with the economy they have had pay cuts and benefit cuts?? Still, no excuse for their behavior.

“Great State Park with tons to do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2010

We recently spent 3 nights (May 6-9) at Devils Fork State Park for a family reunion. What a wonderful park.
We rented some of the villa's, which were very clean, cozy, and comfortable. A small playground entertained the kids for hours. We rented a pontoon boat for cruising on the lake, which was a blast. The dock in the cove for the state park wasn't inplace yet (not the one at the boat ramp, but the floating dock), so it was hard to beach the boat and load bunches of people in the 40+ sized group for lake trips. I'm not sure if that dock is installed later in teh season or not.

The staff was friendly, and no one seemed to mind the family convening around a camplight in the circle infront of our cabins, talking into the late hours.

Although we didn't get to do much hiking, the trails looked great, with tons of waterfalls to visit. I look forward to vising Devils Fork again, to take in all it has to offer.

“Just perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2009

I loved this campground at Devil's Fork State Park! We had a walk-in rustic tent campsite, and we had a great view of Lake Jocassee. It was beautiful, and I loved listening to waves as we fell asleep.

The bathrooms were clean, and the staff at the store was extremely helpful, including when we needed to find theaters or activities when there was a major thunderstorm.

I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
