“Great State Park with tons to do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2010

We recently spent 3 nights (May 6-9) at Devils Fork State Park for a family reunion. What a wonderful park.
We rented some of the villa's, which were very clean, cozy, and comfortable. A small playground entertained the kids for hours. We rented a pontoon boat for cruising on the lake, which was a blast. The dock in the cove for the state park wasn't inplace yet (not the one at the boat ramp, but the floating dock), so it was hard to beach the boat and load bunches of people in the 40+ sized group for lake trips. I'm not sure if that dock is installed later in teh season or not.

The staff was friendly, and no one seemed to mind the family convening around a camplight in the circle infront of our cabins, talking into the late hours.

Although we didn't get to do much hiking, the trails looked great, with tons of waterfalls to visit. I look forward to vising Devils Fork again, to take in all it has to offer.

“Just perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2009

I loved this campground at Devil's Fork State Park! We had a walk-in rustic tent campsite, and we had a great view of Lake Jocassee. It was beautiful, and I loved listening to waves as we fell asleep.

The bathrooms were clean, and the staff at the store was extremely helpful, including when we needed to find theaters or activities when there was a major thunderstorm.

I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

“Better than the Beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2008

We stayed 3 nights at the Devil's Fork camp ground in our camper in mid-July. We recently went to Myrtle Beach for 4 nights, and while we had a good time there, the crowds were thick and at times, challenging. Lake Jocassee at Devil's Fork was so much more relaxing and probably even more beautiful with the fooothills as as a backdrop and the prettiest, blue-green water. The lake is low, but that just made more sandy beach and getting to the waterfalls more adventurous! If you plan to go to the waterfalls, get a good map and take a GPS if you own one. They are not flowing off into the lake like you may see in some pictures, so they are not going to jump out at you. With the lake so low, you will have to do a little walking to reach them, and possibly even a little climbing. WELL WORTH ANY EFFORT, trust me! We spent hours nestled in little coves swimming in the cool water, fishing (no catching!) and just soaking up the sights with little or no interruptions. The campground itself is well maintained and quiet. We had a terrible storm one night with 65 mph winds that made a bit of a tree debris mess and crews were out the next day with blowers and fresh mulch. By the way, we never lost power during the strom and enjoyed episodes of Bones and House with our crystal clear antenna picture. Definitely recommend this park--I could have easily stayed a week!

“Great place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2007

My wife and I were looking forward to this trip for months. We booked the camp ground back in Febuary for our trip in October. We took our new travel trailer and drive 9 hours up to SC and parked in site #40. The camp grounds are in great shape and the bathrooms/showers were well maintained. We were rather surprised at how low the lake was, 30 feet low, but we still enjoyed ourselves very much. We visited some of the nearby parks and I would have to say that Devils Fork is the best of them all. We tried our hand at fishing, but only managed to feed the fish and not catch any. This is one place that I will be returning to in the future.

“Lovely Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2007

We just returned from a stay at Lake Joccasee at Devils Fork State Park. Very lovely area, the campsites are well maintained. We had a bit of a problem with our RV after a thunderstorm one night, and the nice guys who clean the restrooms, etc., were very helptul. We especially appreciated the young park employee (don't know his name) who actually got into our little RV to help my husband figure out what the problem might be, and gave us good directions to the nearest store that would have the part we needed. Turns out, it was a simple fix, but we really appreciated his concern. Nice to know people care!
