“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

This place is great! It's a wonderful place to take children. It's usually very quiet which is good and you can take as long as you need to check out the entire building. They have the same animal exhibits but from time to time they will put other stuff in there like Catawba Indian pottery and Vernon Grant stuff. They also have a planetarium for checking out the current view of the stars.

“Definitely worth a visit; a membership is even better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

The Museum of York County has an amazing display of African animals, plus a very hands-on room for children: drawers of stuffed birds they can see and handle; pelts, a terrific water conservation exhibit; classes for children, many of them free. Another permanent exhibit is on local animal life.

We joined this museum to enable us to take our grandchildren there frequently. Within 2 visits we more than paid for the membership. MYCO (Museum of York County) also has reciprocal arrangements with other museums.

Our grandchildren ages 3-11 attended a presentation on bluebirds, and all stayed engaged. This week my husband took them to a program on fossils (local ones!) that kept the attention of even the younger ones.

The museum also has a planetarium.

“Great place to take out-of-town guests”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2011

I always take my out of town here - there is so much to see and the animal collections are unparalled, except for a visit to the zoo. Plus they even have a planetarium.
