This was a great find! I am always nervous when it comes to motels (because we had one really bad experience in a motel in MA) however, thanks to all the reviews - we decided to stay and are very glad we did! This is a great place to stay especially if you're looking for a simple place to sleep and shower - and save your money for attractions and places to eat! We made our reservation the same morning we arrived and paid $82/night when all other hotels were way over $180/night - and those are the hotels that were miles away from the beach. The staff was very nice....and the room was clean (no bugs or funny smells). The beach is right across the street and it is also a short walk to Main Street. My husband and I would definitely stay here again.

My only complaint is they don't offer non-smoking rooms. I had a reservation and didn't think about this until we got there but the lady was very nice and offered to let us see the room before deciding if we'd stay. The room was a little musty but didn't really smell of smoke so we stayed. The place is a little old, but bed was comfortable, room was very clean and the area was quiet. Overall we were satisfied. There was also a kitchenette in the room which I thought was nice, though we didn't try out the appliances b/c we were in town only one night. Across from the beach is nice too.

We sought an affordable weekend getaway close to the ocean. After much searching, we found the reviews on Trip Advisor and decided this sounded ideal. The location is great for a short walk to the beach, shopping on Main Street, and the grocery store. It is close to some really good golf courses and better restaurants. The view of the ocean from the 2nd floor veranda superb with the exception of old cigarette and cigar butts that filled the outdoor ashtrays on the tables upon our arrival. We emptied them ourselves. The bldg is older and seems dwarfed by the newer high rise condos around it. Although, we like older and quaint some fresh paint, and a little color may make the structure appear less dog eared. Although vacuuming is done daily the room carpet is soiled and drab. Many things needed maintenance in our room: slow drain in the bathroom sink, shower came on when the tub faucet turned on, no diffuser on the ceiling fluorescent light fixture, and the toilet seat came apart when moved. There was old food stuck to the interior of the refrigerator. I was met with an expression of surprise when I mentioned some of the issues in our room. Otherwise, the linens were clean, the bed made, the bathroom wiped down, and dishes I left soaking in hot soapy water were placed in the dish drainer. The other guests were clean and well behaved. The were no loud voices, music or cars. We were comfortable and had a good sleep. We especially enjoyed our morning coffee on the veranda looking out toward the ocean. The only objectionable noises were ones the Harley bikers made that weekend.
I believe the management here aim to please as they are aimiable folks, and will make a sincere effort to improve the maintenance issues of their fine motel.

Had a great time at the High Tide Motel. All of the other positive reviews of this motel are very accurate (and I had decided to stay at this motel on the basis of those reviews). The motel has everything you need, a great location, plus great staff. A real gem.

Here's another positive feature, not mentioned in the other reviews: Before going, I was uncertain about staying in North Mytle Beach rather than the main Myrtle Beach area. I had never been to either before, and thought we might be in a less desirable location or would miss out on something. But the exact opposite was true. North Myrtle Beach, especially the High Tide Motel area, is the best: Wider, less crowded, more relaxed beaches, and closer to good restaurants, bars, and shopping areas (e.g., for groceries & other supplies). There's less chaos, less daily driving around, and there's more character.

I would definitely stay at the High Tide Motel again, and strongly recommend it.
