“Love it here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

When we arrived at the room (we stay there every year) we were not very happy with the condition of the room. First the room smelled like bacon had been cooked there everyday and never aired or cleaned for that matter. Every year I have to request a topper for the mattress and every year they tell me at the desk it is supposed to be on there but never is. That part is getting old. Then the air purifier (which they didn't have last year) was flashing red and saying needs attention. It was so filthy and dusty it is a wonder it was even running. So we went back to the front desk and advised them off these things. They took care of them (except for the bacon smell). Well then we noticed in the master bath (toilet) that the floor was wet. So we called about that and advised them there was a leak somewhere around the toilet. We left after calling to grab a bite to eat. No sooner then we left they called to say can they come in. Yes of course. When we got back to the room, the water was wiped up. Well later that day the water was back and I mentioned to my husband that it looks like it's coming from the room next to us and once I told him that, he figured out where the leak was. The turn off valve for the water. He put a bowl from the kitchen under the valve and just left it. The maintenance seems to have gone down a bit since last year and these units were recently upgraded or something just about a year or 2 ago. We will go and stay again and even though we had those few bumps to deal with, it worked out ok. It is just a walk across a street (very easy crossing) to the beach. One other thing which really isn't the resorts fault, but the umbrella rental people put umbrellas and chairs out and block so much of the beach with unrented unbrellas. they are expensive and not many people rent them so why take all the space up for families, etc.? Liek I said I still recommend this place, a little pricey if you are not an owner or a member of something but a good place to go. Much quieter than just a little south plus barefoot landing is right there.

we are owners for five years.the one bedroom unit that we stayed in was functional, but needed an upgrade, and looked nothing like the unit that we bought from.the staff was wonderful, but do not go to the update meeting.it is nothing but a very hard sales pressure, the tell stories, they do not give you update info on your package, but torture the hell out of you to buy more.

We were invited by friends who are owners to Shorecrest. There are 2 buildings, we stayed off the beach, however, it was a 5 minute walk from our 6 floor room to the beach through the front building. The room itself had 2 bedrooms, master on suite with sunk in tub (no jets), king bed, 2 bedroom had twin beds with a bathroom right across the entry way, and doors that closed that area off from the living area which made it perfect for the 4 of us. All the basics were provided, however, we just made sandwiches, toast and fruit for breakfast, etc, and ate out for dinner. (A place called California's delivered fantastic pizza one night!). Nice dishes, silverware , pots pans, microwave, decent fridge...perfect for a family. The air condo was top notch. Staff pleasant.

Area of north Myrtle Beach is all condos, to do anything except for the beach was a significant drive (downtown). There was quite a few restaurants and shopping about a 5 minute drive, but the road was far to busy to walk from this area, especially at night. It was a quiet place, no problem sleeping.

THE BAD: We had items stolen from our room. Kindle Fire, friends gold necklace, and a coin. These few things lead us to believe they were misplaced, surely they will show up! After searching high and low in the room, we went to management . Someone had accessed our room between 2:07 and 2:14 pm when we went to the beach. Police report made, management stated cost of items will be reimbursed. What was concerning was the fact that management admitted to a problem with theft. I'm not sure what steps were taken. These thieves are smart in the way that they only took a couple things, again, we thought we misplaced. There are no safes in any of these properties to the best of my knowledge. This should change.

Obviously, this left bad taste in my mouth, but the place was nice in a great beach location if that is your priority.

It was our first time staying here & we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly & courteous. Our room was extremely clean & had no odor problems. I was very happy that we had our own washer & dryer. We were even provided with detergent & a sponge for the dishes & some laundry detergent! The kitchen was well stocked but we ate out most days. Even the coffee maker was great. We have small children & cleanliness is a must. We saw maintenane cleaning the pools, lazy river and surrounding areas every morning. They were impeccable. I felt very reassured letting our kids play in the pool and hot tub - both indoor & outdoor. They had activities planned daily for kids as well as adults. There were only a few things that could use some improvement. The parking spots on the deck were too small & the faucet in the bathtub was not working properly. The water was not flowing out of it as it should. So my kids couldn't get their bubble bath as expected. And unless we woke up at the crack of dawn and put our towels to "claim" some of the pool chairs outside we were pretty much doomed for the rest of the day if we wanted pool chairs. But the rest of our stay in our hotel room more than made up for it. Someone mentioned that the elevators were slow but it's really not that big a deal. I would rather have had a great room and a slow elevator than a crappy room and fast elevator.

We have vacationed at SCVV I every year since it has opened as we are fixed week timeshare owners of this property. SCVV I has seen many changes throughout the years. We vacationed there this year 8/3-8/10/12 and our condo was very clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable but we prefer better pillows. The kitchen was adequate which is fine as we dine out most evenings. The oceanfront balcony is the perfect place to relax, enjoy a morning cup of coffee and watch the tide come in and go back out . As for the other review on the smell of cigarette smoke our room did not have that problem. I can sympathize with them as I would find it very offensive if our condo reeked of cigarettes. SCVV does have no smoking signs in various areas but some people have no regard or common courtesy and continue to smoke in the "smoke free areas". As for the lazy river, pool and hot tub at SCVV I there are guests who choose not to read the rules, nor do they supervise their children properly making it very difficult to relax and enjoy this area. There is an attendant at the lazy river but we have seen parents become confrontational when it has been pointed out their children are not behaving properly. The elevators have been slow from day one ... this is not going to change. We find it quite amusing people who are capable of walking two flights of stairs to get to or from the Lobby will complain how slow the elevators are while they waste their time waiting for the elevator to arrive. The only time we use the elevators is if we need to get to our condo on the seventh floor. If you need to rent chairs and an umbrella the service is provided by North Myrtle Beach. This beach service is not customer friendly. We paid for our rental for the entire week at a cost of $150. We had lightning one morning during our stay and the chairs and umbrellas were all taken down. By lunch time the weather was once again gorgeous but we could not enjoy the beach as the chairs were not available. The next day it was cloudy but no sign of lightning. There were no lifeguards on duty the entire day and NMB beach service only brought out the chairs if you called and complained. They were then put out based on phone calls. We recommend Captain Dave's Dockside Restaurant located in Murrells Inlet. The food was very good especially their key lime pie. Afterwards take a walk on the marshwalk to enjoy the scenery along the salt-water marsh of the Atlantic Coast.

Room Tip: If you want a view of the ocean choose oceanfront not oceanview.

What a disappointment....checked in very late ..met the very rude front desk staff person...whent to our room ....when we openned the door the smell of cigarette smoke about knocked us out. We were told that 80% of people that stayed here were smokers and we should have requested an ionizer when we made our reservations. As an owner I was very disappointed with this attitude and response.
