“Would not return”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I needed to be in downtown Charleston for business meetings Monday, but flight options dictated a Saturday arrival so I searched for a hotel near the airport. I chose this one, honestly, because of price. You know the saying "you get what you pay for"? Even though it was a bargain rate, I still don't think I got everything I paid for.

I went to check in. The front lobby also serves as a UPS store. The woman behind the counter acted as if I was disturbing her by checking in.

The Inn is basically a motor lodge. There is a large parking lot surrounding the hotel. I was so fortunate to have a ground floor room. Ever car door opening and closing, every rude and inconsiderate guest shouting to friends at two in the morning, every Rap song blasted through the night, every footstep (and head board banging) in the rooms on all sides and above, etc., there must be zero sound-proofing because I heard it all.

The room is nothing special. But I have traveled the globe and feel that all I need is a clean bed and a shower. I was hesitant to use the bed - it seriously looked old and dirty. The shower worked so that was good. But I think they hired third-graders to do the construction and painting. It is evident that at one time they switched bathroom tiles….except for those along the tow sides of the bathtub. Looks like they decided to leave those old and non-matching bits. My four year old daughter can color within the lines better than whoever they used to paint. The wall colors ran up onto the ceiling, the ceiling colors ran down onto the wall, and there were drops of paint on the wall and floor that the painters decided to just leave there. The chrome hardware on the bathroom door has primer all over it. OK - I got my shower (and hot water) but a little pride in presentation sure would be nice.

After a very noisy and broken sleep I was happy to check-out (a bit earlier check-out time there: 11:00). Again, the front desk help seemed less than friendly at first - but she soon warmed up and even managed to smile and laugh.

Room Tip: Maybe get a upper floor on the inside to protect yourself from car/parking/guest noises.

The rooms are very spacious and clean. The outside grounds are well maintained and groomed. However a family of 30-40 there for a wedding made my stay extremely noisy. I was nervous about those kids being left alone at the 9 foot deep swimming pool.

If you are looking for the Ritz, this isn't it. But if you are looking for affordable, clean and convenient when you visit the Charleston area, look no further. Conveniently located off I-26, it is located close to Tanger Outlets for plenty of shopping opportunities, Regal Cinemas is across the bridge off Mall Blvd for movies in the evening and you are about 7 exits from downtown Charleston for a visit to the historic area or if you want to visit Mount Pleasant, it is just over the bridge about 9 miles away. Staff were nice, friendly, and helpful. An outdoor pool is a nice refresher in the hot summer months. Breakfast is not the best but a Bojangles and Waffle House are just across the street from you or you can always visit other downtown establishments or travel to Mount Pleasant for a full breakfast to begin your day. Rooms offer a clean, comfortable bed, with fresh sheets and towels. The bath is small but has good pressure in the shower. A/C keeps it cool in the room during the humid Charleston weather. We've stayed here through the years and it has never been a bad experience for us, whether with youth groups or when traveling as a family. We plan to return when we visit family in the area. Beware of the ducks which have made this their home because duck poop is on the grounds and sidewalk. . .unfortunately.

Room Tip: If you have limited mobility request a ground floor room as this is an older hotel without elevators...

Grounds are not maintained well and are dirty - lots of dog poop. Continental breakfast was poor, and breakfast employee unfriendly. Insufficient toilet tissue in room when first arrived. Noisy guests, some knocked on door in early a.m. hours. Not worth the money paid.
