We only stayed at this hotel because we were visiting Charleston and wanted to use our Choice Hotels reward points. We booked a 3 night stay, with 1 night free because of our rewards points. The person who took our reservation as well as the person at the front desk assured us we would have the same room all three nights. Of course, as soon as we got to our room and unpacked, the front desk called to tell us we would have to move the next day because they needed our room for other guests (assuming this was because we had an adjoining room and she said a group of elementary students were coming and had the whole floor booked). So, we packed up and moved the next morning, into a smaller room. We requested to move again because my daughter's crib would have to go right in front of the AC unit, which was the only place it would fit. (note: if you want a large room, do not get a room on the first floor!) So.. they finally moved us again, this time to the handicapped room on the 1st floor. This room was very spacious and met our needs. It was a lot quieter than the 3rd floor (no door slamming all night long!), and the bed linens seemed clean. However, there was a strong mildew odor coming from the closet (we had to wash EVERYTHING when we got home just to get that awful odor out of our clothes and bags!). The staff was friendly and helpful (aside from the room booking blunder), but the breakfast was sub-par. However, what would you expect for free? Arrive early if you plan to eat the free breakfast .. however, I would not eat at the Waffle House adjacent to the hotel! Their prices are sky-high and a fight broke out the one time we went there to pick up some food. This hotel seemed safe enough but is not in a good part of town. I would recommend paying a little more and getting a hotel IN Charleston, not North Charleston, as this seems to be the more run-down area. Also, the hotel is very near to the airport, so you hear planes coming and going all day and night. I was ok with it but some others who need peace and quiet might be disturbed by it. The walls are thin and the doors are set so that they slam if you don't hold them while closing - which means expect to hear doors slamming all night. The only major plus - free wifi in room! We did not try the pool but it looked ok. There is a small business center that was always occupied by the same girl (possible staff?) and a small fitness center that I never saw anyone in.
