The actual submarine is very cool, but the presentation of it via an enforced tour really detracted from the experience. They take groups in at set times to see the sub. They then give you only a few minutes to look at the actual sub, and then ask you to turn your back on it to listen to the tour guide give a long talk about the Hunley, its history, and the attack on the Housatonic. The talk lacked substantive information about the recovery and rehabilitation of the Hunley, another weakness. They also forbid photos of the Hunley. The Hunley is interesting and powerful, and worth seeing on its own merits, but the tour detracts from it.
