“very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012

We stayed at this hotel, along with 10 others, during April 2012 as part of a 17 day road trip across GA, NC, SC. By giving the star rating I am not saying the hotel is a 4 star but whether it was clean and value for the money and to an extent we have compared then to the other 10 hotels we stayed at.

Unlike some others this Fairfield Inn was more like a traditional hotel hotel were you park as near the reception as possible and take your luggage through the reception to a lift to your room. This felt much safer to us than the motel types were your room door is accessible to all from the street.

The room was top notch for cleanliness and standard of furnishings. Clean towels and lots of hot water.

The included breakfast was pretty good with a good choice. A bit of jostling as the service area was quite small for the number of guests but there was a good sized seating area so we did not feel cramped as in most other places.

At about £62 per night this was one of the better hotels that we stayed at provided that the location is OK for you. It was in North Charleston which is about 20 miles or so from Charleston.

We would definitely stay here again. Only 4 stars as it was just not quite as good as a couple of other same price/cheaper ones and the location is a bit out of the way.

Room Tip: For a quick cheap meal try the Atlanta Bread Company which is within easy walking distance.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

First, I want to say that I feel qualified to be objective in my review because I have stayed in hotels all over North America and in Europe and I operate a bed and breakfast at which I am the host, "house hubby", breakfast maker and server and tourism guide.
This Fairfield Inn could be the business model for other hotels when it comes to excellence.
The place is spotless. Rooms clean (thanks housekeeping!) and anywhere else that the public visits - elevators, poolside, front foyer, breakfast nook, is always spotless.
The staff seems to be well trained with front-desk staffers being very welcoming and attentive. Other staff members that one meets on the property are friendly and welcoming. More importantly, there seems to be a team spirit at this hotel with staff members supporting and helping each other.
The business center has two computers available for free-of-charge use by guests. There was never a lineup for them when Nancy and I used them.
My wife Nancy and I were at this Fairfield for four nights in April and were made to feel very much at home. When we wanted information from the front-desk about postal service, or directions to a shopping mall, we got it promptly.
But the shining star at this property (there always has to be a standout experience) was the breakfast nook where the feed-our-visitors-and-make-them-welcome charge is led by Cora. Cora takes her job very seriously and she is very good at it. The food offered would appeal to all tastes and nobody should leave hungry, or dissatisfied. I heard people praising the breakfast offering and, in particular, thanking Cora. We add our thanks again!
But breakfast starts at 6 a.m., or so and goes to 9.30 a.m., so should you arrive at 9.30 a.m., you would - naturally - be disappointed. Coming at 9.30 a.m., would be akin to arriving at any other place of business at closing time....you'll seldom get served. And, their hours of operation are clearly posted.
After breakfast-nook hours, the Atlanta Bakery, located immediately in front of this Fairfield Inn, is an excellent place to go. There is also an ice-cream place within walking distance and an Arby's.
The rate at this Fairfield is excellent. We felt we definitely got our money's worth.
My wife and I would stay at this Fairfield Inn again when travelling to Summerville/Charleston area. It is located just back from the main street, but is easy to find if you keep in mind that at that particular traffic light - where you have to turn to reach the Fairfield Inn - there is a Hess fuel station on one corner, a CVS Pharmacy kitty-corner across from the Hess.
One caution I have has nothing to do with the hotel, but worthy of mention for travellers. The traffic. Wow! Early morning and quitting-time traffic flows bolster already busy roads. So be careful! If you're in the wrong lane for the turn to the hotel, don't take any chances... turn around further down the road.
To Cora and all of the folks at this Fairfield Inn, where the manager is Krysta, all I can say is "keep up the excellent work!" and thanks!

Room Tip: We had a suite, which had a king-sized bed , a microwave oven and a mini-fridge.... as well as the u...

Hotel was a good price and was very clean. Only problem was the breakfast didn’t live up to Fairfield’s standards. By 9:30 on Sunday morning everything was gone except dry cereal. We had to ask for milk, glasses, and utensils. There was a waffle maker and they apparently had scrambled eggs, sausage, and pastries but they were gone by the time we arrived.

The price was good, breakfast was just basic. There was nothing special about this place, but we slept well and went on with our journey.

Despite some iffy reviews, we chose to stay at this hotel because of an excellent deal available through one of the travel websites. (Significantly cheaper than the hotel's own website, by the way.). The location is not bad at all, just off the interstate that leads west out of Charleston, and in an area that has restaurants, stores, etc. It was not at all noisy outside, nor did it seem unsafe.

We found that the hotel was clean, both in public areas and in our room. Our beds and bed linens were very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and well-lit. The check-in was fast and efficient, and our overnight stay was without problems. I did note that the floors between rooms must be wood, rather than cement, since I could hear footsteps from above. A stay on the top floor would remedy this problem, as others have noted.

Our biggest and most pleasant surprise was the breakfast buffet. The food was tasty and fresh, and constantly replenished. The woman working there (Jesel) was probably the single best worker of this sort that we've encountered. She was pleasant to everyone, had a great and welcoming smile, and kept the entire area SPOTLESS. After seeing a wide range of customer service representatives all around the world, we know what's good and what's not. Jesel was responsible for creating a very good impression in the eyes of many holiday visitors. I hope that other TripAdvisor members will take note of this positive and honest review. I hope that hotel managers who read this will recognize the value that just one good employee can have (as well as understanding how one bad apple can damage the entire enterprise).

This hotel needs new mattresses, bed was most uncomfortable. Breakfast service was not the best. At 8 AM they said all the fruit have been served and there isn't any more. Also they have no more complimentary newspaper. Staff has terrible attitude.
