“The worst experience ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Few months ago..I stayed with Sheraton in NYC, I was pretty impressive about their service. However, all I can tell you is that..this one is an outlier!

My boyfriend and I went to Charleston at 6/22/13. while we checked in, the girl at front desk was impatient and unfriendly..which was OK...Therefore, we left our room at 5 pm and came back to the hotel around 11pm, as we tried to open our room, we found the door was "opened" and unlocked. So.. we called the customer service..the staff there just replied us that somebody just called them to order some extra towel and sheet. We explained we did not call them, they apparently accepted the wrong request and left our room opened..the staff was indifferent and did nothing about it...

I recommend you not staying with this hotel if you want your trip secured.

Your comments are greatly appreicated as it gives us an opportunity to understand and see your experience from your vantage point. I apologize for the apparnet indifference that you encountered from the staff. It is a standard that we be pro-active in the security and safety of our guests. We do have management and security guards walking the property and I am glad that nothing in your room was touched. Please accept my apology for the attitude you received and the unlocked door.

Spent night here when our flight was cancelled. Two adults, two kids under age of 12. Very long wait to be checked in. Water damaged ceiling in lobby. Got to the room and floor did not seem clean. Shower had mildew in grouting. Bathroom venting was terrible.

Many of the TV channels (satellite I think) were too fuzzy/snowy to watch. Felt like I was back in the late 70's as a kid needing to adjust my rabbit ear antennas.

Climbing into bed was an adventure when we saw what appeared to be stains of unknown origin on the sheets. My kids bed sheets were thread barren in some places. Late night manager brought up new sheets so that I could change them (kids were already sleeping when I noticed our sheets). Offered to move us, but by that time it was too late.

On the door the swing lock/slider was loose and pulling away from the door post. The screws were coming out... looks like it had taken a serious beating. My 11 year old said it felt like he was in someone else's room. (From the mouth of babes, right?)

Had to leave around 5:15 am to get the flight out and there was no staff to be found anywhere at the desk or the expansive the lobby.

The restaurant food downstairs was pretty good for taking back up to the room. But that was about the only good thing I can say.

Room Tip: Check out the overall cleanliness prior to unpacking in case you need to move.

Thank for taking the time to tell us about your experience, we appreciate the feedback and comments about your stay. With cancelled flights we may experience a large number of unexpected check-ins and unfortunately it is usually late in the day or night. I apologize for the long lines at check-in. We did have a pipe burst above the lobby ceiling and that has since been repaired, I know it was horrible looking as we had fan and blowers drying out the ceiling and walls. We are so glad that is complete and the lobby is back to normal. Laundry has worked to remove the older linens as it processes it and return all linen in good order. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the food from the restaurant and again thank you for telling us your thoughts so we can share them with the staff to make needed improvements.

I was very surprised by what a poorly maintained hotel this turned out to be. The lobby had ceiling tiles missing with hoses hanging down. The floor I was staying on (Club Level). Had wires hanging down on the walls. In my room the sliding bathroom door would not close properly Ana's the list went on.

The furnishings are old but everything was clean. It is in a good location as far as travel is concerned, but not in an area where you would want to walk about the neighborhood. I would re omens the new Aloft if staying near the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for the pol view!l

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay with us. Unfortunately, your stay was less than acceptable. The hotel has engaged professional services to make corrections to the issues that you have mentioned. The AC in the lobby has been improved and the repair from the broken pipe in the lobby has been completed. We continue to monitor and repair issues as they occur. The hotel has a good working relationship with all booking sites, Hotwire, Expedia, Priceline, etc. and as such you should have been given a room assignment based on the plan you selected not by the booking site. The Club level and Business level are upgrades and are available with a different plan. I have reviewed the pool logs with our service provider and the ph and chemical levels are controlled within the DHEC recommended levels. I am sorry that they appeared different to you. I have also visited with the housekeeping department to review the times of servicing of guest rooms and the delivery of proper terry to the rooms. I appreciate you feedback as we have addressed your room specifically and have taken corrective action. Again thank you for choosing us and I hope that you would give us another chance when you are in the are.

Flew in for the Father's Day weekend to Charleston, SC. Made a reservation at the last minute. Got a great discounted rate of $89 as a aviation pilot. The hotel is only 15 minutes away from historic Charleston. The hotel is being renovated. Staff very friendly and clean rooms although they do need a facelift. Beds are ver comfortable. At this price would consider staying here again.

My husband and went on Priceline to bid on a hotel a day before our trip to Charleston, South Carolina and got stuck with the Sheraton Hotel. The worst ever! Stains on the wall, burns in the carpet, mildew smell, and no TV. This is not a 3 in a half nor a 3 star hotel. Try 1 star. I will never stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't stay here at the Sheraton in N Charleston, South Carolina.

Stayed one night, while visiting Charleston. It's about a 5-10 minute drive into Historic Charleston. The front desk staff was very friendly, and most helpful in giving us maps and information on Charleston.
We are SPG members, so our room was on the Club Floor. It is clearly an old hotel, that has been renovated. The room was a bit worn, but was a good size. The bathroom was tiny, as are most older hotels. The exhaust vent was filled with dust/lint. Very gross, and obviously it did not work, so the bathroom was dripping wet after a shower. The beds were comfortable.
We had access to the Club Lounge, which had evening Hors D'oeuvres and drinks available. That evening, they offered a vegetable tray with dip, and meatballs, covered in a sweet sauce. The veggies were okay, we passed on the meatballs. Soda and water were available. Beer, wine and other spirits were available to purchase.
Breakfast was to be included in the Club Lounge as well, but in the morning, a sign was on the door, directing you to the lobby where you would be given a coupon for the restaurant. We received our coupon for breakfast, which was a continental breakfast, meaning any cold item from the restaurants buffet. It wasn't even worth the wait. It was almost 5 minutes before we were even seated. The restaurant was not very clean, the tables and chairs were in need of replacement, as was the wall paper. There was not much of a selection. A few different cereals, a bowl of fruit, and a small basket of muffins, that had fruit flies flying all around them. The milk was empty, and they were down to 1 yogurt. The gnats, or fruit flies were also flying around the room. Needless to say, we did not eat much, and were eager to leave.
There is an outdoor pool. But we did not go out to it. It is an easy off, easy on from I-26.
I would say the room was okay, just go elsewhere for dining.

This hotel is old and shows it. The walls desperately need paint, especially on the hallway floors and the carpet is nasty and needs replaced asap. Do not plan to stay here again. The staff, however, was nice and helpful.
