Stayed one night, while visiting Charleston. It's about a 5-10 minute drive into Historic Charleston. The front desk staff was very friendly, and most helpful in giving us maps and information on Charleston.
We are SPG members, so our room was on the Club Floor. It is clearly an old hotel, that has been renovated. The room was a bit worn, but was a good size. The bathroom was tiny, as are most older hotels. The exhaust vent was filled with dust/lint. Very gross, and obviously it did not work, so the bathroom was dripping wet after a shower. The beds were comfortable.
We had access to the Club Lounge, which had evening Hors D'oeuvres and drinks available. That evening, they offered a vegetable tray with dip, and meatballs, covered in a sweet sauce. The veggies were okay, we passed on the meatballs. Soda and water were available. Beer, wine and other spirits were available to purchase.
Breakfast was to be included in the Club Lounge as well, but in the morning, a sign was on the door, directing you to the lobby where you would be given a coupon for the restaurant. We received our coupon for breakfast, which was a continental breakfast, meaning any cold item from the restaurants buffet. It wasn't even worth the wait. It was almost 5 minutes before we were even seated. The restaurant was not very clean, the tables and chairs were in need of replacement, as was the wall paper. There was not much of a selection. A few different cereals, a bowl of fruit, and a small basket of muffins, that had fruit flies flying all around them. The milk was empty, and they were down to 1 yogurt. The gnats, or fruit flies were also flying around the room. Needless to say, we did not eat much, and were eager to leave.
There is an outdoor pool. But we did not go out to it. It is an easy off, easy on from I-26.
I would say the room was okay, just go elsewhere for dining.
