“Two words: Stay Here!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2006

I can't say enough good things about this property! It is located perfectly for any destination in the Charleston area, although you will need a car. (Easy and fast commute into downtown and we had no problem finding parking.) The exterior is attractively done to give it a Charleston feel with alternating colors resembling row houses. The lobby is attractive. The staff is SUPERIOR in terms of friendliness and professionalism. It has a fantastic pool and hot tub with lovely wooden outdoor furniture and a barbeque for grilling. It even has a basketball court - which we'd never seen before. The rooms are spacious and attractive with a 'full kitchen" (minus an oven), iron and board, hairdryer, 2 TV's, desk, dining table, etc. The bed was very comfortable and the room very clean. The towels were soft and large. The shower had lots of pressure. The complimentary breakfast buffet is the best we've ever seen, with something for everyone. They even have a little grocery store by the front desk if you need something. The only negatives were it was a bit of a walk from the elevator to our room and we sometimes got lost; the door to the bathroom was a little tight against the toilet; and the bed was too close to the sink to use the large overhead light if someone was sleeping. But really, I'm nitpicking here! Unless you are looking for an historic inn "experience" downtown, you won't find a better deal in the Charleston area. We paid $99 a night through Orbitz.

***While in Charleston, be sure to do the Ft. Sumter boat tour from Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant. You get a closeup view of the USS Yorktown and other vessels (and can take tours of those, if you like), you get a great and relaxing boat ride while viewing the beautiful new bridge and downtown Charleston from the harbor and a hear a very interesting history lesson from the excellent park rangers to boot. Best $14 you'll ever spend!***

I recently stayed at this hotel for a 7 week work project and I offer nothing but praises for this beautiful facility.

I had a suite with 2 queen beds. The room was spacious and extremely clean! They had high speed internet which was a plus since I was on a business trip.

They have a small yet effective workout facility.

The staff was friendly and extremely helpful!

Lastly, they have a happy hour about 3-4 nights a week. Really good food so you don't have to go out if you are tired. They have a wonderful diverse (changes daily) breakfast as well.

I will definitely stay here again when I'm working in this area of chareleston!

This is one of the best motels we have stayed in. The staff is great and the hot breakfast bar better than any bar we have experienced. The location is a little distant from Historic Charleston but there is lots to do near by. The rooms are very clean and spacious. We will be back!

My family of three along with two friends stayed here for two nights in July 2005. We were pleasently surprised with the hotel. The interior is beautifully decorated and elegant, the staff was helpful, the rooms were spacious (we had a two bedroom suite), and the breakfast was filling.

We spent a lot of time in the rooms because we had our 10 month old with us who was napping. It was nice to have a place to relax without feeling cramped.

The location is great if you don't mind being outside the historic district. It is easy to get there...takes about 15 minutes.

My only suggestion is to avoid Charleston in July. Way too hot!

We stayed at the Residence Inn on International Blvd for a week in June 2005. Last year, we stayed at the other Residence Inn in North Charleston, also for a week, and in 2003, we were at Springhill Suites. Our visit this year was BY FAR our best! This Residence Inn is new (Oct 2004), and still looks it. We're a family of 4 (2 teenagers) and our room was perfect. The AAA price was well within our budget. The staff was very attentive and friendly..... they even surprised our daughter with a "goody bag" for an upcoming competition, wishing her luck! The area is quiet; with the exception of a few military flights mid-morning, you're not even aware of the nearby airport. Within walking distance of convention center and PAC, and coliseum. Not alot of eateries at this I-26 exit (Montague Ave), but a quick trip west on I-26 to exit 209 provides alot of choices (including a mall), and east into downtown Charleston is a 10-15 min drive. We even took a day trip to Folly Beach, which was very easy. We will definitely return to this hotel!

My family and I spent 6 days at this hotel and we had a totally satisfying experience. We had a one bedroom suite which held two queen-sized beds. The room was extra large and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was immaculate and our livingroom and kitchen area was not only spotless but also beautifully decorated. It had everything you would need for a comfortable family vacation. We had a two burner stove top, dishwasher, large microwave, a full sized ice making refrigerator, dishes, pots, utensils, coffee maker, dining table, two televisions, computerized safe, ironing board and iron, ample closet space and furniture with a plethora of drawers.
The hotel also had a fabulous lobby which was warm and very inviting. Complimentary breakfast is served every morning and was very accomodating for both the early and late riser. Every week day evening there was a manager's reception where you could feast on light dinners that ranged from hamburgers to pasta meals, salads, juice, soda, beer and even wine. The food was great and I was particulary struck by the attention the staff paid to making sure that meals were always kept at safe tempertures. In addition, they were always helpful, courteous and managed the dining area with great skill.
If you have small children or are an active outdoor kind of person, this is certainly the place for you. The hotel also boasts a multifunction court where you can play basketball, tennis, volleyball. There is also a pool and hot tub which are both tested and cleaned every morning. I was additionally surprised to discover that the hotel had a business center and a excercise room and a guest laundry room which was always opened.
I can't say enough about the staff. They were all courteous and very, very helpful. The ladies at the front desk went above and beyond to help with whatever I needed which ranged from getting quarters to printing my boarding passes.
I would highly recommend this hotel for families, couples and individuals. It in a nice quiet part of North Charleston and only minutes away from downtown and the airport. It is a great deal when you can have the experiences of a four star hotel for a fraction of the cost. It was worth every penny. If I ever visit Charleston again I will certainly stay at this hotel.
