“Good old southern charm :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

We have just returned from a visit to North Augusta and felt we had to share the wonderful experience of staying at the Lookaway Inn.
The room was clean and airy with all amenities supplied. Sammy, Jai and Kelly were all very attentative and helpful. Nothing was any trouble.
We were made to feel most welcome and co-owner Kelly had stayed behind especially to ensure we booked in alright.
I would recommend this inn to any traveller looking for a clean, friendly and peaceful place to stay, emanating that southern charm expected of this part of the States.
It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room and the wi-fi was quite weak at times, but aside from those minor blemishes we were extremely pleased with our stay.

A great place to stay in the Central Savannah River Area and specifically North Augusta, SC. Conveniently located to downtown Augusta and North Augusta. Very large and comfortable rooms. Great value for the money and very friendly staff.

We stayed here just the one night to break up a long journey. Set in a very quiet but convenient location, this Inn was easy to find and gave a very imposing first impression. The Inn keeper had waited for us to check in as we were running late, he was welcoming and informative with lots of advice for nearby places to eat, and then showed us to our room, which was very clean and pleasantly decorated. You do not stay in the actual main part of the house, however the accommodation buildings are still connected to the main house and are very much in keeping with that building style. The next morning coffee and pastries were served in the main house, which was a great start to the day. We would definitely recommend this to others and will be sure to use it again ourselves whenever we travel that way.

We actually hate to tell you how much we liked the Lookaway because right now it is a hidden gem. It is a lovely Inn - almost a B&B but w/out the living in someones house part. Gorgeous rooms- beautifully decorated, nice grounds and slammin' view from the Lookaway house porch.
Sammy - who we dubbed " the concierge" - made the visit smooth and easy - he knows the places to go and happily goes out of his way to assist in making your visit special.

The inn was lovely. The rooms are big and very clean. (If a room is clean, I am a happy customer!) Ours had a little refrigerator which was nice. The inn had a tiny garden you could stroll in and a nice courtyard area for sitting and relaxing. There is apparently a strict noise ordinance, so don't expect to be outside making a lot of noise past 10:00. This is not a bed and breakfast!! I would not do breakfast here. You are better off going to chick fil a or another local place for breakfast. (Muffins wrapped in plastic and juice boxes are not my thing) If you want a nice clean place to stay, and are good getting breakfast somewhere else, this is a place for you. If you want the full bed and breakfast experience, stay next store at the owner's B&B. Sammy, the innkeeper, is a nice guy who seems happy to help in anyway he can. The location was great for all of our excursions.

We stayed here during the final 2 days of our 10 day journey through GA & SC. The main building is gorgeous and well kept. The guest rooms were clean and quiet. We had an opportunity to speak with the host / Innkeeper several times and found him to be pleasant and attentive. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner as we were checking in, he was very nice and obviously proud of both sites.
The continental breakfast is a good start to the day and they made a decent cup of coffee!

The main house is orginal and normally not used for guests. Behind the main house are the accomodations beautifully in character with the main house and area. Across the street is the Rosemary Inn which does offer full breakfast but at substantially higher price. Lookaway is comfortable, large rooms, attractive antique style furniture. Private verandas. Garden full of several varieties of camelia trees (a prior owner was a horticulturist). The breakfast was just pastries, fruit and coffee or tea but enough to start the day.
Sammie, the host, was very helpful and a great story teller!
So much more pleasant than a regular hotel, though no ameneties.
We recommend Lookaway or Rosemary if you want a little more upscale.

Room Tip: Hawthorne room has a King bed.
