“most aweful and deceiving hotel we have EVER seen!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2007

Our family of 7 went to Myrtle Beach in February of 07. we booked a room at the Palms, wanting the 7th floor, months and months in advanced. We get there and they put us on the 14th floor! The room had food on the floors, the odor of the room was stomach turning, the doors on the closets were leaning against the walls. It was just so appalling. The rooms look like no one even comes to vacuum. They were worse than you could even imagine!! Then the lady at the front desk was so rude when we told her our room wasnt clean, and not safe for the small children we had with us. Also, their website is very deceiving saying they had a game room and bowling alley, and outdoor pool. They had none of those! You had to drive 5 miles down the road to get to those. Then the lady at the front desk had the nerve to say that we should have read the fine print, and we should have called to ask about the hotel, not book our reservations based on their website!!!! ISN'T THAT WHAT WEBSITE IS FOR?? Then they gave us a hassel for a week about getting our deposite back. Please don't stay here, it would be nothing but disappointment and heartbreak! We were lucky another hotel had opennings for us to stay there!

Stayed February 2007

Our family came to the Palms Resort with friends. Their condo was very beautiful. It had fresh paint and was very nicely decorated. However, the same can't be said for our condo. The furniture looked as if it was from the '70s. The microwave was very old and some of the cupboard handles had broken off.

Also, the palms website is deceiving. It advertised a spa and fitness room, which the resort did not have. The pools were only somewhat clean. The outdoor hot tub was brutally hot, and there wasn't a way to turn down the temperature. The elevators were disfunctional most of the time, and sometimes we were forced to climb 13 flights of stairs.

However, the rooms were very clean, and we had a fantastic view. Having a washer and dryer in the room was very convenient.

We stayed at The Palms on Sep 21st thru 24th in condo 1101 that we rented through VRBO.com. I have to say that the owners of this condo were a pleasure to deal with and the condo had all of the amenities that made us feel right at home. I cannot speak to the hotel side of the facility, but here are some of my observations regarding the common areas. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi were kept clean and were adequate. The front lobby was in desperate need of a makeover to bring it into this decade (though they were putting on a fresh coat of paint while we were checking in). The elevator were bad and need of new carpet or tile. The location of The Palms is ideal. It is close to Broadway at the Beach, the Amusement Park and many other amenities. The location is central, but not in the thick of the action. For the coffee lovers, Starbucks is a short walk down Ocean Blvd. Our condo was fantastic. Two great balconies right on the ocean. The decor of the condo is modern. the bathrooms have all new fixtures and the condo is well equipped with all the comforts of home. The place was spotless when we checked in and for this reason alone we are planning another stay next summer. I highly recommend this specific condo.
