“Rooms and Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We have spent time at the Spring Maid many times over the last 7 years. The rooms have always been clean with outstanding service from the staff. the grounds have been clean and well maintained. A major plus is the breakfast that "Ray" does every morning. We would recomend the Spring Maid with only minor issues.

Room Tip: Request an end room on the higher floors.

“Just Average...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We got a Groupon for this place and decided to try it out for a mini vacation in November. We did not know that Myrtle Beach tends to get pretty cold but that is our own fault. However, the hotel really is not made for cold weather either. All of the rooms have an exterior entrance. The rooms themselves were pretty decent...good size, clean and good layout. However, they do not look like "newly" remodeled rooms. It is more like a few quick things were changed so that it could be called a newly remodeled room. There were a lot of details that still looked dated. The balcony in the room was great, facing the ocean. In the summer, that would be totally awesome. We even made use of it in the cold. The resort claims to have "indoor" pools however, that is a bit misleading. In order to get to the indoor pool, you have to go outdoors. Plus, there is no locker room or anything in the pool area, so you have to run back to your room in the cold. The only reason we visited the pool during our trip was because we had promised our four year old that she would get to go swimming. Otherwise, it really wasn't worth the trouble. The breakfast food looked ok but it was cold. The "restaurant" feels more like a cafeteria and after the first day, we just decided to skip it and have a good breakfast elsewhere in town. It is nice to have mini golf on the property and in the summer, I'm sure there would be even more activities to enjoy on the property. In general, I would say skip staying here in the winter months. In the summer, it would probably be a good place to stay especially if a view of the ocean is important to you.

“Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We were there only a couple nights but would have liked to have stayed longer. Nice large, clean and very comfortable room. Good location to the southern end of Myrtle Beach. Very quiet location that has everything you need. Restaurants, pier, fishing, miniature golf and more. I will be staying there again for sure.

“Needs a WHOLE BUNCH of sprucing up!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

I have been to Myrtle Beach numerous times and this hotel is the worst I have ever experienced by far. I will admit that they were doing renovations, but don't put me right in the middle of it. They have a couple different building and despite the offseason and the fact they were practically empty they put me in the middle of the mess. I am also not even sure if the maid entered my room as it was pretty much "self serve". Do NOT stay at this resort. I am kicking myself that I trusted reviews on this website as they had to be placed by people from this hotel. I am used to staying in mid priced hotels and have never complained, but this place was unbelievable.

“Very Large but not inviting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

The resort is spread out among numerous buildings. Upon arriving we had a hard time finding the check in office. Upon arrival the lobby was nice and inviting. The clerk was pleasant and helpful. The rooms were supposed to be recently renovated but did not appear to have been recent. The room did have a flat screen TV in the bedroom which was a good size. The TV in the living room (small flat screen) was not HD and s The room had what was need to be small suite. The furniture was somewhat dated and the rooms were not the most inviting with comfort. The first and second nights in the room we were visited with several roaches but none after those that were killed. The heating/AC unit in the living room was loud and the thermostat was broken so you had a lot of heat or none. A large space under the front door allowed cold air to constantly come under it into the kitchenette. Upon advising the front desk I was advised that they would notify housekeeping. The bathroom and shower were out dated. Breakfast was served in what appeared to be large cafeteria with no atmosphere. It was cool outside and had a cold feeling inside. There was no one to take the breakfast ticket on the first day and we had to just fin for ourselves. The breakfast appeared to be great but the food (sausage and bacon) were not of good quality. They did have an omelet station (Ray's Famous Omelets) which were exceptional. Ray was full of personality and very enjoyable to talk to. None of the pools (6) were heated and there were very few activities at the facility in cool weather. Upon arrival there were no carts to move luggage on, had to go searching for one and the same thing happened the morning of checkout.
