“First rate!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

This was a wonderful trip for us, and Island Vista was a big part of it. Beautiful resort, friendly staff, quiet location in a residential rather than commercial area, although commercial areas are nearby, nice restaurant onsite. This was our second stay here, but defintely won't be our last. It will be our first choice for next year's trip!

Have been there every year for the last seven years and have noticed the resort go from a beautiful resort that exceeded my expectations to one that is not being maintained and i am now rating it poor to fair. The fence by the pool is falling down, burnt out lightbulbs everywhere of hotel, rooms desperately need to be painted and updated, balcony doors not operating properly, smoke detector going off in night because batteries have not been changed, closet doors falling apart, north parking garage being used as dumping zone for old appliances and garbage including the fish tank that used to be in the cypress room. The pools are not heated and are so cold that no one can use them. The house keeping was very poor and the room was not vacummed until day 4 of our seven day stay, my beds were NEVER changed. And why would you put a light switch for the interior hallway light of my room out side the door for other people to turn on and off all night. The televisions in the bedrooms are very old and the air conditioning would not run for more than an hour at at a time. The washer and dryer are extremely loud. So loud that they can be heard outside the units. I could go on, but to me this resort is becoming not worth the premium that they charge for it. If it wasn't for the location this so called luxury condo resort would get a zero.

Thank you for your review, although we are sorry to see that it does not reflect the enjoyment that so many of our guests experience. I will try to address the specific items you mentioned, beginning with lightbulbs and batteries… I agree, they do tend to expire without notice. This is one of many reasons that our desk is staffed 24 hours every day of the year. We have an elaborate system that issues maintenance requests for that department, and they are always addressed immediately… the forms are then completed with who, when, and what was done to solve the issue. Our staff is in constant contact via radio… if, for example, a guest requests a housekeeping need such as one you described, letting us know prompts a radio call and an immediate response. Our housekeeping staff receives a detailed series of reports each day with which they schedule their activities, and with that, all rooms are served on a daily basis. If a guest has a special request, informing us at the time always provides results.

We have recently installed hardware that has completed our new and very “green” climate control system. To properly install these parts, that company required that each door be able to open and close correctly… otherwise, the new system could not work as designed. Its primary function is to conserve energy, but it does offer peripheral benefits… often, guests would open the sliding glass door and sit on the balcony with the cool air blowing through. The resulting problems would be the hot humid air meeting the cool air from the vents leading to condensation in that area. The worst problem was that the main climate control unit for that specific suite would freeze from the overload, causing a complete loss of function for several hours. The recent upgrade by the company that installed this system allows the door contacts to disable the system when the door is open, and to enable the system within 90 seconds after the door is closed. We do mention that new ability in our welcome at the lobby desk, but we always assist anyone who requests help with the climate control system.

In an effort to help provide as much information as I can, I consulted with our pool technician, who showed me that the current temperature of the exterior pools is 84 degrees F., no lower. With air temperatures still reaching 90 degrees, that temperature has been popular so far. DHEC does state that no water temperature can exceed 104 degrees, so our Jacuzzis will only go as high as that. Each and every day, our staff arrives to clean and test our water and all purification equipment to be sure of the highest possible standard. Once they see the standards they expect, they then go about the task of organizing the entire lawn and deck areas exclusively for the enjoyment of our guests, who often stop by our lobby with compliments regarding their efforts.

Each year (and every year), all of our rooms are painted during the “off season” months… this is a little more difficult to schedule as each year goes by because of the growing popularity of our suites, our Cypress Room Restaurant, our staff professionals, and especially our quiet residential location. But we never miss a year… in fact, this year we have also replaced our living room furnishings with new upgrades, all of our mattresses, box springs and bases are new, and we have all new Egyptian cotton, from new sheets to our new duvet covers. Even the Cypress Room had an extensive renovation that has received much praise from our visitors. The list goes on… many procedures are scheduled to maintain smooth operation of the many systems necessary to our large resort, and enhancements of one kind or another are always planned… in all cases, they are efforts to provide our guests with the very best vacation experience available.

Thank you again for choosing the Island Vista.

For the past 7 or 8 years, my husband have been traveling from NY to stay in the Island Vista in Myrtle Beach. We always have a great stay at the resort. I like the fact that they are located in a place in Myrtle Beach that is not as commercial and hectic as some of the others. The rooms are always clean and face the ocean. One year we did get placed on the third floor across from the "party room". There was a wedding reception going on till midnight that got very noisy, so now we always request a room above the 4th floor. There is easy access to the beach, two pools and a water adverture for the children. The Tiki Hut is an outside bar and snack shop which is handy for afternoon meals. We'll go back again next year. Love those Sweet Potato pancakes for breakfast in the Cyrpess Room.

Room Tip: Get a room above the 4th floor so that the events at the "party room" located on the 3rd f...

Island Visa always has the cleanest and best place in Myrtle Beach. The staff is always ready to help you in any way possible. The food is too good to miss at the Tkii Hut and inside the restaurant. The pools are always so clean and inviting and the accommodations are wonderful and beautiful. My family and I always make this our yearly retreat and completely relax. We LOVE Island Vista.

Decided on Island Vista after looking at a lot of reviews on Tripadvisor, was not disappointed!. Reservation was quick and easy. Check in the same. Room was extra nice, clean and as requested. We have stayed in Myrtle Beach 4 or 5 times and Island Vista is simply the best. Ate dinner the first night in the Cypress Room, food and service was great. Hotel staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Ocean front room, great views. Awesome stay, will definitely return to Island Vista.

After having a reservation given away at another resort, we stopped by Island Vista expecting to find the place booked. Shaun at the front desk help us out and saved our weekend. I think we have found our new favorite place to stay in MB. At this point I have no plans of staying anywhere else.

Island Vista was quiet, peaceful and great in customer service and accommodations! My husband and I plan to return as soon as possible! The brochure and website are accurate. My husband and I enjoyed the Cypress Room, the food was fresh, hot and delicious. The only two points we would ask the hotel to consider is an iron/ironing board in room, and the bar in Cypress Room stay open a little later to accommodate those who wish to stay in the facility and drink. My husband enjoyed the staff, whenever we had questions we were treated excellent and not like a bother. Thank you for being a great establishment and pray our next visit is also a pleasant stay!
