“Amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2007

We traveled from Toronto for a 10 day stay at this amazing hotel! Everything was absolutely spectacular. It may be a little pricier, but honestly you get what you pay for. We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo and it was immaculate! The view is incredible.

The food at the restaurant and the Tiki bar is also outstanding.

I have a 4 year old son and he had a great time too. He can't stop talking about it and wants to go back.

I highly recommend this hotel and it was worth the 2 days it took us to get there.

We have been coming to Myrtle Beach for the last 10 years and have stayed in at least 6 different hotels in the same 30+ block area. We simply like trying different hotels. We found this shortly after it opened and was attracted to it on a walk on the beach one morning. So we stayed here this past August for 9 nights. This hotel was in stark contrast to the previous hotel that stood in its place.

While I will agree the rooms are very nice (they should be - they are only about 2 years old), when you walk outside, this hotel offers the same that every hotel around it does, and in someways a bit smaller- a beach with very nice lifeguard service, a pool area, a restaurant, an exercise room, and in this hotel's case, woefully inadequate parking. Sorry, no gift shop.

This is not a 5 star hotel, despite of what the management may think in light of their newly posted 2008 rates. I fear they are extremely overly confident and will price themselves right out of business. While almost every hotel around them offers generous discounts for 7 + nights, this hotel will not even consider any such discount. AAA discount isn't even offered in August - again this is unheard of in almost every hotel down there. I am not sure what they are thinking - surely it can't be that everyone who sees their hotel will pay anything to stay here??!!

Many visitors may think "wow, only 150+ rooms" but remember these are not double occupancy. These are 1 - 4 bedrooms suites with the 2 bedrooms and up bringing families of 5-6+ people - and there are more of the 2 - 4 bedrooms than 1 bedroom suites. We were amazed at the size of groups that were there - we definitely felt that on the beach as well. And while they freely tell you they have several standard rooms, these are never offered in the summer, because they are break-offs in the back of the 4 bedroom suites. So on the average, the numbers can be the same as many surrounding larger hotels.

I will also agree with many reviews on the housekeeping and front desk personnel - this is below average in comparison. We experienced poor service and dirty linens left in hallways for over a 24 hour period, glass doors that were never cleaned, personal items thrown away, etc.

In a time when we all work hard for our income and all deserve to enjoy/relax on vacation, I will conclude with - if you want to consider this hotel - vacationer, be aware!

Please note: if it were possible, I would give a 3 1/2 star - it's in between average and above average.

If I had to pick one word to describe this hotel it would be...Amazing. Everything about the hotel was fantastic, from the service at the front desk to the friendliest housekeepking. The room in which we stayed was wonderful. Very nicely decorated, very spacious. The only downfall was the king size bed was'nt that confortable, it was two mattresses put together. If you roll to the middle of the bed you would fall in the crack... maybe they could upgrade to an actual king size matteress that would make the room perfect. And of course the infamous parking garage we went during off season so I can't imagine the hotel during summer months. It was'nt as scary as some make it out to be but it was very tight, and sometimes we came in early to get a good spot. Those cons alone would not stop us from going back. The place is so beautiful sometimes it felt as if we were somewhere other then Myrtle Beach!

We have not been to Myrtle Beach in several years and were unsure of where to stay. After reading the Island Vista reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked a week in an oceanfront grand king suite (basically a three bedroom condo with two of the bedrooms locked off). From the minute we arrived until we had to leave(unfortunately), we were in awe of this beautiful hotel. The property is in an upscale residential area and there are no other hotels around it, but it's in close proximity to all the great attractions (Broadway at the Beach, etc). Our suite was absolutely gorgeous and the hotel staff were extremely friendly and very accommodating. The lazy river, pools, hot tubs and oceanfront lawn are beautiful and we spent alot of time swimming and soaking up the sun. We will definitely stay at the Island Vista on our return trips to Myrtle Beach.

My family and I just visited the Island Vista Resort. We had a wonderful stay. The room was extremely clean and spacious. The maintenance crew was always seen cleaning the outside area. We visit Myrtle Beach at least twice a year and the Island Vista has exceeded all our previous accommodations. The only shortfalls with the resort was the safety of the parking garage and if your room is close to an exit door, the sound of the door slamming will keep you up. The lack of visibility in the parking deck is an accident waiting to happen.

Island Vista is a fine place to stay. The 3 BR unit was huge and loved the dinner table that would seat 8 comfortably.

Breakfast is amazing if you eat on the property and the staff their is great. We had lunch from the tiki bar at the pool and the burgers were fine, nothing fancy but much better than having to leave the beach.

The staff at check-in was not as friendly. They appeared to have had a long day when we arrived at 3pm to check in. Guess everybody has bad days.

The only complaint is the parking garage. I don't mind walking to my room (if I wanted a short walk I would stay in a motel with door front parking) but the garage is just dangerous. The mirrors on the north garage aren't placed in best positions so onlt the person coming down will see oncoming traffic. If you are going up, just be careful. We ended up parking on ground level and caught elevatr in lobby instead of driving up to our floor.

We stayed after the busy season was over but I imagine that space on the beach is tight because of the erosion. High tide leaves very little space for a potentially crowded beach. I don't think this would be a great place for families who like to spread out on the beach because it will get tight. The pool may be a better option at high tide if you plan the day right.

I used this website as a tool when planning our vacation and it was a great help. This condo was perfect. We were upgraded to a 3 bedroom, 3 bath for just my husband, daughter and me. The master bedroom has a sliding glass door to the balcony which was wonderful. Mickey and Gail at the front desk were very helpful. The bellman when we checked in was very friendly and the staff always greeted us. Unfortunately there was a woman there on our check out day who was not and if I had encountered her first I may have had a different perspective on the resort. Since we were there on an off time we had the beach almost to ourselves. The pool area and lazy river was very clean. Every morning you could see them cleaning everything. LOVED being in the residential area. Very peaceful and relaxing. The kitchen was very clean. However, if you plan on doing all of your cooking there you may want to bring an extra skillet. Our daughter has food allergies and we were not able to find many places to eat out to accomodate our needs. The masterbath could have been a little cleaner and the master bedroom was dusty. But overall it was still a very nice place. This was our first time to Myrtle Beach and we are looking forward to going back to Island Vista. We usually go to Florida but I think we have found a new place and closer to home.
