“Winter Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2007

With our son in Iraq we figured that we should get away from our empty house. Driving down Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach, we came across this cute little building on the beach. The apartment they gave us was very nice. No problems and very comfortable. The hot tub was so relaxing and the indoor pool was spotless and big. The location was real close to the new mall and restaurants galore. We hope to come back to this retreat in the future. Lets just hope its not another Christmas. Overall we would highly recommend Ocean Park Resort to everyone.

My wife and I just returned from a very enjoyable 4-night stay at Ocean Park Resort. We stayed in a 10th floor 1-bedroom suite that had been previously recommended to us and was booked using the VRBO.com website. The suite was very well maintained and had many extra amenities that made our stay that much more enjoyable. As other guests have commented, the views from the suite are superb and the beach is very wide and clean (found a couple of sharks teeth). The resort was in the midst of some upgrading. The outdoor pool was being sandblasted and repainted, the elevators were overhauled and ran quickly and smoothly thereafter, and several floors were blocked off so they could sampoo the carpeting in the suites. Since many of the rooms were open during the carpet cleaning, we took the opportunity to check out the condition of the furniture and furnishings. We were quite pleased with what the resort has accomplished since our last visit. They must have taken some of the previous tripadvisor comments to heart and have worked diligently to upgrade the rooms. We look forward to our upcoming trip to the Ocean Park Resort scheduled in January.

First off I want to say it's never like home.
We had room 522, the location and the view are Great! The room was a one bedroom with two double beds, nice size bedroom, washer/dryer, full kitchen separate lvr. The size was very comfortable with lots of widows, this is because they are at the corner of the complex wonderful views. But! As for the rooms, well the cleaning and updateing of apt. could be better. The furniture especially the kit. chairs looked like they came from the 70's. The couch was old but comfortable, the carpet needed changing or at least cleaning. The kitchen would have needed a major nitty-gritty cleaning. The top of the fridge had about 1 inch of dust and the sides of the stove were filthy, you could see the spillage of maybe years.
I must say comfort was great but I think that they sould do maybe a spring cleaning every so often.
The grounds were well maintained and every morning they clean the pools, which are beautiful. I would say the outside is cleaned better then inside. I would stay here if I new they did some renovations because the location was quiet and close to all.
The staff was very helpful and friendly esp. Michele, sweet girl.

This room is definitely in need of some major renovations!!! Beds definitely needs to be replaced. Mattresses are in lumpy condition!! Pull out murphy bed needs attention also. Very dirty behind it. Looked as if it had never been swept behind. Couch is in horrible condition. Table and chairs were gross! When you sat down in the chairs it felt as if you were going to the floor and the legs were very unsteady. Walls could use a new paint job. The stove was a mess. I wouldn't even consider using it to cook on. The water in the bathroom was way too hot! Had to put the shower all the way to cold and still then it was almost hot! Dryer does not stop when the door is opened. The whole suite had a terrible odor. Wore shoes the whole time afraid of getting something from the floor. Carpet is horrible. Also this is supposed to be a non smoking hotel. Tennants across from us were smoking in the hotel. Hot tub was unbearably hot. Could not get in it and almost felt as if it could burn your skin. My suggestion is to check the suites out before renting them if possible. Maybe the one review is right by stating that it depends on which room you get. But whoever the owner of this suite is definitely needs to give it some attention. Also the motel had an odor and the elevator was very, very, very slow!!!

This was our first time to Myrtle Beach. I searched for hotels in the area and came to trip advisor to finally make my decision. We are satisfied with room 320 at Ocean Park Resort. Our room was around $120 a night for ocean front, our own personal balcony, 2 double beds, full size fridge with freezer, kitchen sink, stove, microwave & small appliances. The front desk were always kind. There is an outdoor and indoor spa, pool & 1' kiddie pools (the kiddie pool was a BIG hit with my 10 month old). The water was always clean. The beach was also beautiful and clean. I guess the only thing iffy was the maid. If we were in the room she'd ask if we need room service. If you want everything done you need to let her know otherwise she'll only do the basics.

Reading the reviews it seems like they are largely influenced by how much the person liked the individual unit where they stayed. We just spent several days in Unit 804. This is a unit owned by an individual but rented through the property management. It is very well maintained and up-to-date. The carpeting, flooring, appliances, curtains, furnishings, etc. seemed either new or relatively new. It is a one-bedroom unit with a kitchen, washer/dryer, and living area. The bedroom has two double beds and the living room has a double bed which easily pulls down from the wall and can be raised back into the wall during the day. The couch may be a sleeper sofa; however, we did not use it. It is an end unit so in addition to having an ocean front balcony, it has nice size windows in the living area and the bedroom. There is a door that can be used to close off the living area so it can be used as a bedroom with some privacy. It would be a very good unit for families.

The pools and beach were very nice. There are indoor and outdoor pools with kiddie pools. In addition, there are indoor and outdoor spas. The pools are a nice size and as stated in other reviews, the outdoor spa is exceptionally nice. There are also several sunbathing areas separate from the outdoor pool and spa. The building seemed fairly well maintained considering this is beach front property and people are going in and out of the common areas all day long from the beach and swimming areas. We did not need to deal with the desk personnel that often but when we did there were no problems.

I would rate the room as a five but remember that this doesn’t mean all the other rooms are equal to Unit 804. When making reservations it might be a good idea to request a specific room number.

I stayed here in June and extended my stay from 2 days to 5 days. I was pleased with the room. This appears to be an older hotel but is maintained fairly well. The room was clean and supplied with the necessities when we arrived. The Desk staff was extremely helpful and polite. However the evening maintenance staff could use some lessons in manners and how to treat the guest. The outdoor spa was nice the first two days, but on the third day something went wrong and the temperature was to unbareable hot to even get into the spa. The maintenance staff was told in my presents and his comment as I walked away was he could turn it up hotter if he wanted to. Very rude is a kind description of this maintenance personnel, but that's just my opinion. So my rating for the maintenance personnel that I dealt with was a 2 but other parts of the staff such as housekeeping and the desk attendants were at least a 4. The building needs some work but for the most part it was a very nice stay.
