We stayed at the Ocean Reef Resort for a long weekend in Jan. 2007. Had read many good reviews on TripAdvisor and they all lived up to our expectations. The North Tower is new and our efficiency 1 bedroom was very nice with 2 small balconies. The king bed was very comfortable. There was a small livingroom-dining area and a kitchenette sufficient for a quick breakfast or lunch. Also included a stacked washer and dryer. Great ocean view. A very nice place.

The entrance to the hotel was very classy and well done. The room was better than expected. Part of the room seemed to be recently updated with new living room furniture, a decent 25-27 inch television, and very nice, modern kitchen appliances. The bathroom looked updated as well and was pretty clean. The bedroom was simply furnished with a newer 20 inch TV. The sheets and mattress cover were clean, but the mattress seemed a bit old. The pool was clean as well as the surroundings. The only problem with the stay was the parking location, which was either across the road in an open air parking lot, or even further up the road in a parking deck. This was especially a trouble when trying to get across the street to the car in a storm. Perhaps at a later date they can introduce "Valet" service to retrieve your car once you unload your bags. Overall, this was a good experience, especially for the value, although being the offseason at Myrtle Beach, one would hope for discounted rates.

I have been coming here for the past 4 years. One year, we were late making reservation and had to stay at another resort, and let me tell you nothing compares to Ocean Reef! It is one of the best around, and we continue to tell all of our friends to go there!

Stayed the weekend before Christmas..Place was all but empty!!
Everyone was in the Spirit and friendly..The breakfast buffet was a value at 6.95/person! Lounge is very nice and quaint! Indoor pools were all working perfectly. Our room was NEW NEW NEW and roomy for what we paid..it was a STEAL!! For you summer people..this resort is in an EXCELLANT part of Myrtle Beach..away from downtown..but right in the middle of most of the attractions!! 2 blocks away from some GREAT restaurants ie in walking distance! I don't do the beach in the Summer..use to..but can't stand the traffic and tourist prices! But if I did..I would definitely pick this place especially if you get a room in the NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PART that I figure must have just opened..Could still smell the wet concrete in the stairwells!
But all in all..sometimes a blind squirrel finds an acorn. Last Christmas we stayed in a dump for more money...Go figure??
