“BED BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

This place is a dump!!! We have stayed there in the past and never thought it would have been like this!!! We haven't been on vacation in awhile so we went this past weekend. Was looking forward to having a much needed relaxing weekend with my kids. Got there late at night got in the room and settled. Had to get them to bring sheets for the pull out couch that looked bad anyway but had to have somewhere for all of us to sleep. Got the sheets which looked stained an old. Didn't even bring us pillows but just as well. We had brought some from home. All of us went to sleep and got woke up before 8am with my son yelling there is bugs in my bed. OMG!! There were bed bugs all in the bed!!! I was furious it was so awful!!! It mad me so sick to think they had been in the bed with us. We had to call the front desk an they sent someone up to check the room. He said we had to leave the room and they would give us another room. We ended up getting our money back and leaving was not staying there no more!!! We had to go to the laundry mat and wash all our clothes. Had to waste most of the day with that and finding somewhere else to stay. So this was not the vacation we had hoped for!!! Would not ever stay here again!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed in the condo building for 5 days in sept-oct 2012. Our expectations were consistently exceeded by this little oceanfront jewel. It is clean, well maintained, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was the best part to me. Everyone is friendly and dedicated to customer service. There is an onsite restaurant which offers breakfast and lunch options. The food is decent and the prices are very fair. I recommend the omelet and the gravy biscuit. Its nice to be able to get something to eat without getting in the car and fighting traffic. Or you can cook in your condo which is also nice. The heated pools, hot tubs, and lazy river were all nice and refreshing. And the oceanfront location is perfect. We observed dolphins and many schools of fish from our balcony. The toilet in the master bath leaked and was repaired within 30 minutes after the front desk was notified. Again, fantastic customer service. We highly recommend this condo hotel and will be back as soon as we can.

Room Tip: The handicap accessible are on the lower floors of the condo building. Views are better from the top...

Just got home last pm, after a weeks stay there. Great location, great prices and great amenities! The only criticism I have is the quality of the mattresses. Our backs hurt all week, and there were several other guests who complained of the very same thing. Holiday Sands South Owners, invest in some pillow top mattress and start systemactically changing them. We would have paid a bit more for a better mattress. The Cafe was great and the prices so cheap. We will be back next year!

We stayed at Holiday Sands South Hotel 9/8 - 9/13. The hotel is a great and affordable vacation getaway.

The room we stayed in was on the 8th floor, oceanfront. As most have said the outside furniture is a little out dated. The inside furniture however was newer. I will say that the beds were a little hard, but didn't keep us from that much sleep.

The rooms were very clean. The room did have the usual hotel stale smell, but nothing that a small air fresher couldn't handle.

The folks there were very nice and was always greeting us or telling us to have a safe trip out. The cleaning staff was very nice and was prompt with getting us a few extra towels. We had one incident where the cleaners forgot to give us tissue paper, but the front desk was very prompt and apologetic.

The lazy river at the condo was fun. They have a couple of small kiddie pools, a bigger pool outside and a nice jacuzzi. The pool on the hotel side was clean. We didn't swim in the outside pool, but we did take a dip in the indoor pool. The hotel side has and indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a kiddie pool and a jacuzzi.

Over all the hotel was very good. A nice place to stay without a lot of money spent. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Please disregard the negative posts, as this really is a great place to stay and relax.

Room Tip: If you come to enjoy the view as well as the hotel, then I would suggest an upper floor room. Staye...

I'm just going to write down a list of pros and cons:

Pros:
close to beach, kitchen in the room, friendly staff, cheap, amenities such as pool, hot tub and lazy river. Good cafe downstairs with good prices, good location. lots of coupon books. fairly clean, maids could do a better job, nice sun deck

Cons:Poor housekeeping, the maids did a half job cleaning. Room needs updating. mildew on the shower walls, stains in toilet. carpet kept getting wet by the bathroom door, bathroom door kept getting stuck. The elevator sounds like its about to break- take the stairs. Bring alarm clock because there isn't one. You can hear noises from outside.

Would I stay here again? Maybe, if i need a cheap place to stay, but I may go for something a little nicer.

Let me begin by saying that I really enjoyed staying at the Holiday Sands South and I would and in fact have recommend this hotel to family members. We stayed in hotel side room 728, it had two queen beds, a full kitchen with full sized fridge, one tv, a desk area, two tables (one that expanded), a clean full bath (shower and tub combined), and a balcony that looked out to the street (view of another hotels parking garage) but you could clearly see the ocean from the balcony (not an amazing view but enough to check weather and see how many people were on the beach).
We stayed the 8-11 of September 2012 and had a great time. Our room was very clean, we arrived two hours early and were able to check in before 3pm to a spotless room. The kitchen has a few dishes but not many, plenty for 2-4 people. The bathroom was very clean, and we never ran out of towels. House keeping was very polite, they came once while my boyfriend was in the shower I asked if she could return in a few minutes and she was very nice and agreed to do so. All of the staff was extremely friendly, every time we passed an employee they smiled asked us how our day was going, and were just all around nice. The hotel is in a great location for families or couples that are not into the bar scene. Just a few blocks walking there are plenty of restaurants, quick stops for groceries, and just a small drive from the famous Myrtle beach nightlife.
The hotel and Condo are both right on the ocean with an ocean front lawn. The amenities were nice. Upon check in we were given wristbands that allowed us to use the amenities of the hotel and condo side. The pools opened at 9am and closed around 11pm.
The Hotel side features an indoor pool (3 to 4 ft deep), a hot tub, and a kiddie pool. The hotel side also featured a separate kids area, which had 1ft pool with a water feature, two 3in pools, and another 1ft pool with bubblers (one of the window in this area was broken but it was double pane so there was no glass in the kids area). The Condo side was a little nicer but both were enjoyable. The Condo side featured a lazy river with plenty of tubes, a hot tub (better jets than the hotel side), a 3in-1ft kids pool with two water features, an indoor pool, and an outdoor pool.
You can see the beach clearly from all water amenities except the indoor kids area on the hotel side. The website and hotel pamphlet listed a gym on the condo side, my family and I did not go looking for the Gym so unfortunately I can not give any feedback on it. Each pool area had a towel station, the staff came out constantly to check if there were enough towels and to take the wet ones to laundry.
On the ocean the hotels in this area offer chairs and umbrellas right on the shore, they took them up each day late in the afternoon.

My only complaints would be staying in a street side room the Hotel light do shine directly in the windows but it is no more light than sleeping with the tv on. Also, I saw many other reviews saying the elevators were awful. The elevators made a soft grinding sound but are no where near close to the death traps that other reviews are making them sound like.

Over all this hotel was a great stay and I would defiantly stay there again. It is a very family oriented establishment.

Room Tip: Get a small ocean view off the balcony with the street side rooms without paying for an ocean front...
