“Great "cheap" hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012 via mobile

We were a little skeptical of the Gazebo before we got here but have been pleasantly surprised. The hotel is old, but the rooms were very clean. The housekeeping staff was excellent. The biggest pro is that it's a very reasonably priced hotel right on the beach. The biggest con IMO was the size of the room. They are fairly small (remember its an old hotel). We had one of the efficiencies which makes it even tighter. We stayed for a week and my wife packs a lot and we managed, but it was a challenge. The refrigerator was full size, stove and sink small but usable. The hotel next door (the Palace) produced quite a bit of noise, but it was the fourth of July week. We had no problem with any smells or odors mentioned in some of the other reviews. Overall it was a good experience and would recommend it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers. You are not the first folks that have been a bit skeptical before arriving because of our low rates. So happy to hear that you were pleased with what we had to offer you once you arrived. Our family works very hard to make sure that our guests are happy with the product and service that they receive. I am so glad to hear that you were not disappointed.

We hope to see you again the next time you are in the Myrtle Beach area!

Regards,
Julie

No it's not a 4 star but it's the closest thing. From the time we got there till the time we left everyone was extremely friendly, front desk , housekeeping, etc. I dont know about u but friendlyness hoes along way. The room were nice and great location. We will return again with prices u can't beat it. Only problems we had was the kids in hot tub and that's not managements fault its parents that don't bide by rules of hotel..

Rooms looked clean when we arrived, but next day the cleaning lady didnt even make the beds.. the management there was aweful, fussed about parking, using toilet paper, and about using elevator, but said nothing when she was told about there crappy house keepers. Ill pay a lil more next time n hope to get better service. No more Gazebo for our family......

I am sorry to hear that you and your family were so dissatisfied with your stay. We are a family run business, and we work very hard to offer our guests clean rooms at very low rates. Based on the majority of the reviews here, I believe we have succeeded with that goal. We want all of our guest to enjoy all of the things our cozy little Inn has to offer, however we also expect our guest to respect the property and the other folks that are in it. That includes the staff as well as other guests.

First and foremost I would like to say without a doubt that my housekeeping staff is a group of very hard working and competent ladies that do an outstanding job each and every day without exception. The reason that your beds were not made was because you had so many personal items on them making it impossible to do so without disturbing those items. Standard policy is to NOT move a guests personal items.

As for the elevator, I personally stood at the front desk and watched as your child continued to push the elevator button over and over again (roughly) while you stood right there beside him. I merely went out and asked you to please tell you child to not do that. We just paid several hundred dollars to replace that very button due to another guests similar destructive behavior. When you later called to report that your toilet was clogged, my maintenance man found that your child had taken an ENTIRE roll of toilet paper off the roll and tried to flush it down the toilet. I again had to ask you to make sure that your child was not allowed to damage our property.

It is with regret that I say I am happy to hear that you and your family will be seeking higher priced alternative accommodations next year. Best of luck to you

Regards,
Julie

Every year, my husband and I go to Myrtle Beach (without the kids!) for several days. Last year, we walked through the Gazebo Inn and decided to try it out this year. We will definitely be back! The room was very clean, and didn't have that musty smell you often find at beach properties. The housekeeping staff was friendly and accommodating, even asking if there was anything else we needed! The desk staff was friendly and helpful, providing us with the coffee filters we'd forgotten at the store and the name of a new nightspot with a live band. The pool and hot tub were clean, and we could always find a chair poolside - if you have stayed at some of the larger resorts, you know finding a chair is nearly impossible! And you don't have to wait forever for the elevator! The property does not have a weight room or lazy river, but I don't care about either of those things. I am on vacation, and I want a place to stay that is comfortable, clean, reasonably priced, and well-maintained. We found all of that and more at the Gazebo Inn. We hated to leave but real-life was calling us. We will be back!

My family and I are so glad the you and your husband walked through the Gazebo and decided to give us a try! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience with other travelers. You really hit on some of the best things about staying in a small "MOM and POP" hotel rather than one of the larger resorts....quaint and cozy clean rooms, friendly service, and great rates. It's Myrtle Beach the way is should be. We truly appreciate your business, and we hope you see you again the next time real-life lets you walk away for a spell~

Best always,
Julie

I really enjoyed my stay there. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were supposed to leave on Sunday but we decided to stay an extra day and the staff worked with us to get us that extra day. The rooms, while not luxurious were very clean and spacious. Excellent view. Very reasonable rates. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody who wants a clean oceanfront at a very reasonable rate. My son and I will be back next year.

The first time that my new husband and I stayed @ Gazebo Inn was March 31st of this year. We were on our honeymoon, and were really pleased with our stay. The staff was very accomodating and the hotel as a whole exudes a family-oriented atmosphere. We had such a good time, that we came back last week & brought my son and ex-husband with us! The housekeeping is immaculate. Very nice staff (Angela) Very spacious, clean rooms. Plenty of clean towels. Very affordable. Btw, please remember to tip your housekeeper. They work very hard keeping sand out of your bed @ night :) We will definitely be regular customers for years to come. Thanks for providing us a home away from home!

Room Tip: Room 1512 is my fav. it has 2 queen beds, full size fridge, microwave, stove, utensils, etc... more u...

The gazebo inn is a nice place to stay. If you are looking for a plush resort its not for you but if you are looking for a clean room at the beach the the Gazebo Inn is your ticket. The biggest detractor has to be the Beach Walk Motel next door (an absolute dump) Suggestion to the Perkins family would be to buy that place and renovate or tear it down. Overall the Gazebo Inn is great

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. As you mentioned, our property is an older "Mom and Pop" hotel that we hope is perfect for those folks that are looking for a clean room at the beach without breaking the bank. We appreciate your comments and always find any suggestions from our guests to be helpful. We understand how you feel about out neighbors to the South, and have been working very hard to make improvements there as well. We hope that you and your family will continue to stay with us at the Gazebo Inn for any future visits to the Myrtle Beach area. We would certainly appreciate your business!

Warm Regards,
Julie
