Our first time staying here, but it will not be our last. We went during the middle of the week and got an awesome rate. Our kids, 6 and 2 loved the water park! Our trip was in March so it was still too cold to really enjoy the outdoor features but the whole place just screams fun!!

Room Tip: If you have young kid (less than 7 yrs old) stay in the Palmetto tower.

Just returned from our long weekend away and stayed at this resort. The weather was not ideal beach weather but it was a perfect location to keep us all entertained. We had the 3 bedroom suite that was comfortable for our 6 adults and 3 kids. Hotel provided pack and plays for our 2 toddlers at no charge. We took advantage of the mini golf and extra activities and my son had a blast! We would definitely return and the location was very convenient to great restaurants and outlet mall. Beds were comfy and black out curtains helped us all get a good nights rest after all that water activity. All staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful when greeting and/or needing support. The water park appealed to our toddlers, 8 year old and all of us adults!

I did lots of research for the perfect hotel while in myrtle beach, I hD planned on the cold so I wanted an indoor water park. I found dunes village, now if you have ever been to an indoor water park before u should know that this one is not near as nice as most, the word to sum up this place is 1985. The waterpark is old and tired, water slides kind of nasty looking. This place has hundreds of little kids running everywhere which is not a negative that's what I expected. But this place is just really old and tired! Our room was 700.00 for three nights, bedroom, small bath, living room. Thank god we had this amazing balcony and view of the ocean cause that made the oldness better. I've been to many indoor waterparks in my life, MANY, and this one is lowest of the low. Expect to freeze also, the hallways are not enclosed so u walk back to your room and freeze and when u walk between the two parks there is no enclosure. Would def not come back here!

If the indoor water park is important to you, feel free to add a dot here. My kids certainly enjoyed it.

We were last here about 6 years ago when it was newer. Our return visit had us a little disappointed. We felt like the furniture and decor could use some updating.

Additionally, there were a bunch of minor annoyances and inconveniences. Some examples:

- when it is pouring down rain like a shower, Mr. Valet Guy, you don't insist to the guests that they unload across the parking lot and get soaked. You let them take five minutes to get the luggage out of the car under the protective overhang. You do not tell them that the overhang is only for empty cars awaiting a valet.

- Many places that have a washer and dryer also offer at least one detergent pack a day. Not here. The front desk didn't have any and directed me to the other building. I walked over in 36 degree weather. The front desk there did not have any. They exchanged my bills for quarters and directed me to the laundry room. It was locked. Came back to front desk. They tried calling housekeeping to have some sent up. Housekeeping told them no. Finally the gift shop opened and I was able to buy some there. It should not be this hard or this inconvenient.

- The smoke detector by the elevator on our floor was missing for our entire 4 day visit, even though we let the front desk know on day 1. People were then using the area to smoke. Lack of a smoke detector is inexcusable and a safety issue.

- another smoke detector issue: I do not believe they are regularly changing the batteries as part of their maintenance routine because ours starting loudly chirping at intervals in the middle of the night due to low battery. We had to disconnect it.

- The second day we were there, we came back in the late afternoon to find our room only half cleaned, the maid and cart no where in sight, but our room UNLOCKED (with latch holding the door ajar) and UNSECURED!!! We are lucky we didn't have all our possessions stolen!

- On Day 3, housekeeping showed up before 9 am, and we asked them to come back anytime after 12 noon. They never showed. Two days without full towel replacement. We had stacks of dirty towels.

- Coffee filters are also a rare commodity here. While there is an in room coffee maker, we couldn't use it with the coffee we had because we didn't have filters and the front desk didn't either. So, we ended up trekking to the Starbucks in the other building (again in the cold), where there were only two employees attempting to serve a huge line of people, thereby creating a 20+ minute wait. The stand needs more staff, plus there should be coffee in both buildings, as there is clearly a demand.

- Guests spend the majority of their room time sleeping and therefore I find it unacceptable not to have comfortable mattresses. These rickety springy thin mattresses were more like cot mattresses and not nice enough. Needs an upgrade.

We did enjoy the water parks and beach views. There is an abundance of sketchy accommodations at the beach. I'm not sure what would be better than this place, but believe Dunes can do better than this. Management needs to step it up a bit.

Great place for kids! Our family of six adults and three children had a great experience at Dunes Village Resort. It's a great water park for the toddlers and school age kids as well. The rooms were comfortable. The staff was very accommodating. We will return.

Great place to stay in March when the weather is warm one day and cold another. Grandma, Grandpa, Daughter, Son-in-Law, and two grandchildren all had a lot of fun. The Staff, restaurants, accommodations, things to do, and that awesome water park, made this an enjoyable vacation. Would likely return in the future.
