“a very nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

the resort was very clean. lots of things the kids can do. we had a suite and it was well worth it. it had a full kitchen, with basic pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. the suite also had its own washer and dryer. which is sooo helpful, when you are traveling with the family. the housekeepers were excellent. if you asked for extra pillows, blankets,or towels, they were on top of it. some of the staff does need help with the manners, but if you ask for management, you will get some help. and if you don't get the results you need, immediately email them, and the guest service manager Cari will get right with you and try to make it right. we spent about a week there, and can not wait to do it again ASAP. the beach doesn't seem to get too crowded right there, which is excellent. and if it does get more crowded than you like, you can walk just a little up the beach either way, and you'll find a spot that isn't as crowded.

Room Tip: i recommend if you can splurge, get a suite, its well worth it. with a full kitchen, plenty of sleep...

We just finished our vacation with 2 teenage girls at Dunes. We thought the rooms were spacious so that the girls could have their own bedroom/privacy which was a bonus. We also loved our ocean view. The beach also wasn't as busy as the Boardwalk area so we felt like we could really enjoy it. It was also a great area for morning walks. Having our own washer/dryer was also a plus when we came in from the beach. The water slides and hot tubs were also a big bonus.

Our first family visit to Myrtle Beach. We chose the Dunes Village Resort due to the good reviews on Trip Advisor. We stayed in the Palmetto building June 9th - 14th in room #822. Check in was absolutely delightful! We were greeted by Theresa at the front desk and she was very pleasant and helpful! Our room was a nice size with a living room, dining area, kitchen and two bedrooms. The name of our room was a "2 Bedroom Angle Ocean Front". Well, I am not sure what everyone's interpretation of "Ocean Front" is, but please be aware that these rooms are "OCEAN VIEW"! My definition of an ocean front room is that the room sits parallel with the ocean without any other large buildings sitting in front of it. The balcony was "angled" toward the ocean, however, this in no way was ocean front so do not be tricked. Oh, and also, if you take the time to view the drawings of the rooms prior to selecting a room, please note that the drawing of the balcony on this room makes it look huge! Take my word, it is not that big and we were very disappointed.

This resort, I feel, needs to up the game with their housekeeping staff. The dining room table in our room had crumbs on it when we arrived, the counter tops had smeary messes on them, the kitchen floor was sticky, there was a piece of animal cracker on our bedroom floor, and I could go on and on. Thankfully, I took my own cleaning materials and was able to wipe the brownish/reddish smears off of the bathroom walls, light switches and bedroom door. I also had to clean the front of the refrigerator.....what a mess. Our room was totally skipped by the housekeepers on the Thursday of our visit??? What?? I had to call the customer service line; once at 5:15 p.m. and, again, at 6:30 p.m. to let them know that our room had not been serviced yet. We left the room for some supper and came back around 8:00 p.m. and the room was finally done.

On positive notes, the pools, lazy rivers, game area, water slides and buildings as a whole were very well kept. Our room would have been exceptional if it would have been cleaned properly. We ate at the Captains Cafe on the first floor of the building for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was great, the service was great and food was reasonably priced. My husband hit the coffee shop every evening and he was very happy with his visits.

I liked the location of this resort as it was out of the way of all of the hustle and bustle of the south Myrtle Beach and yet it was a short driving distance to everything.

Check out was quick and non-eventful.

I do not know one way or the other if I would stay here again

Oh, another thing......the guys at the outside/pool bar were unfriendly and disrespective.....maybe they were having a bad day??

Thank you so much for your recent feedback regarding your Dunes Village Resort experience. When we fall short, we appreciate the chance to make things right. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the property and amenities. I am sorry about the housekeeping issues you encountered and I can assure you that this area is being addressed.

We hope you will give us another chance. The Dunes Village Experience you had is not typical of the way we do things, and we would love an opportunity to show you that we are better than what you experienced.

Thanks again for your review. See you soon!

We have visited Myrtle Beach for years, but this trip was the best so far. The resort was wonderful, and we were very well taken care of. Our room was great with two beds and a full kitchen. The beachfront location of the resort was wonderful, and the waterparks were fun for both our four-year-old son and us adults. The food at the Captain's Cafe was very tasty and reasonably priced for the area. We loved having it delivered to the room when we wanted to spend more time at the water parks instead of going out for dinner. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We will be returning to Dunes Village Resort!

Despite a very cold spring break the resort had fantastic amenities for it....indoor pools, Jacuzzis, and water slides. The kids had fun with splash pads. We got a great deal off season and so missing out on the beach due to weather was not so bad. Our angle oceanfront queen suite had a good view of the beach and happenings of the hotels. Hotel restaurants were on site, but cooking in a couple of times were easy with our kitchenette. I would plan to go back and likely during nicer weather. The kids had plenty to do, and we only went into town once the entire week we were there( to see the aquarium)

Room Tip: Try to get a corner room where windows are not adjacent to rooms. Corner rooms were without windows...

Good location on the ocean in a less crowded part of Myrtle Beach. This is our second visit and we enjoyed our stay as much the second time as the first. Great service and friendly staff, many amenities. No real problems. The one minor complaint was that the WiFi was a little spotty, but it's available at no charge and the many good features of the place make up for a minor issue like that. We didn't complain about it. We'll surely be back next time we want a beach vacation!

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms cost a bit more, but the view is worth it. Avoid the first floor, though, since the...

We've stayed here several times now and really like it. It's right on the beach, and the indoor water park is really nice especially if you've got kids or for those times when you've had enough sun. It's just a short drive to most attractions and the staff is very friendly.
