“July 2013 - Vacation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Our July 2013 vacation in an Ocean Front Suite…..(which included a bedroom, full kitchen, living room, bathroom and balcony.)
Where to begin – I’ll start with the PROS first –

PROS

Ocean Front Room – great view from the 10th floor
Close to the beach – not a far walk at all – even with chairs, umbrellas, etc.
Had 2 outside showers and a garden hose to rinse off with.
Beach not crowed – private beach (from what I’m told) so no picture –scope selling.
Location of hotel was good – pretty much in the middle of the area.
Ample attached garage parking – did not have to park across the street like many of the other hotels.
The staff was very professional and friendly.
The main areas of the hotel were updated and nice looking.
The room – overall the room was clean. 2 flat screen TV’s.
Towels – supplied sufficient amount of towels.
Outdoor grill
The Resort Shoppe was very nice and had a variety of items.
If you checked in early, they allowed you to use the facilities. (see CON below)

CONS

There were 4 elevators that took an amazing amount of time to get one. There was NO air conditioning in the elevators, which when they were full, was unbearable. We asked a hotel employee why there was no AC in the elevators and his response was, “Yeah, that would be nice.”
If you checked in early, they allowed you to use the facilities; however, the only place to change was the small bathrooms, which were very humid, and uncomfortable.
Pools – they advertise many pools, however there is only 1 large pool that was filled to the max every day. They had a few small pool/jacuzzis and a very small lazy river that always was full.

One major complaint about the pool area – every morning before 8 a.m., you’d look out from the balcony and EVERY single chair had a towel on it and there were only about 8 people in/around the pool area. And it was that way all day. Come on, are we in 2nd grade? The hotel should not allow the guests to save a seat all day.
The Room – Overall the room was clean. Needed updating. The backside of the curtains was melted and traces of it were stuck to the window. That should have been replaced.
The plastic diverter attached to the air conditioning unit was loose and cracked and didn’t serve its purpose well.
Bathroom – only 1 hook on the back of the door in the tub/toilet area. I don’t know about you, but I could use a minimum of 4-5 hooks when I travel.
Only 1 towel rack, which was above the sink area and not convenient to really hang anything.
No Full length mirror.
Overall, the bathroom was small for what was considered a suite.
One Clock – (which would be fine if it was just one room – this was a suite)
Wi-Fi – none in the room – you had to go to the lobby.
Only served breakfast inside. No lunch or dinner inside.
Outdoor grill – only 5 items to choose from. Only plates - No containers to carry your food back to the beach.
Ran out of forks one time and the attendant said, “I guess if you really want one, I can go get some.”
Cleaning – 2nd day they missed our room, and when we called at 5 pm, they asked us if we had requested to not have it cleaned. Which we didn’t. They did send someone to clean – and by clean - I mean they replaced the towels and changed the beds. No vacuuming.
Front Desk personnel were not very familiar with what was happening in and around the Myrtle Beach area. There were only a few pamphlets (and by few I mean 5) of the activities in the area. When we went to the NASCAR park – there were tons of pamphlets for all the activities in the area.
Overall experience was Good – and while this may sound like nick-picking, but for the price of $312 a night (taxes-fees included) it was not the experience that we had hoped for in what they call a resort. It’s a hotel, by best.
Will not be returning to the Coral Beach Resort.

Recently we stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. For a price of $255 per night (tax not included) and a so called "Oceanfront King Suite" we got a one bedroom apartment with a small kitchen in the hallway in between the rooms, a bathroom where the main drain was "mumbleing" all night long and a balcony with - indeed - nice oceanfront. Room and hallways up-date is needed! Coffee maker was broken and the sheats looked in the need of a good scrub when we got the room. Strong smoker smelI even the room was marked as "non-smoker". Nothing got changed during our stay beside the towels. I have seen places better cleaned and with housekeepers more considerent to the guests. I questionned the cleanless of the water in the pools because of the amount of people around (not bad, but I do not think that 24 hours will be enough for the filters to do the job as well as the water quality control that in other places I have seen it done more often thru the day). Good location, fun for everyone including the bar and the entertainment (DJ, music, dance) and the pools for everyone. For the price, I think they should try harder (with only $40 more a night you can find a "paradise"). And the "head"-bartender should revise his atitude - do not ignore your costumer just because you have to line-up the bottles! Thanks to Samantha and Geanie at the front desk and to Travis the "other" bartender (make sure you learn to make "Mango Mojito" and the "007"!)! Thank you!

Room Tip: oceanfront view, with on-line reservation ,

My husband and I honeymooned at Coral Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach in the spring of 2013 (April-May). We were very impressed with the staff, the food, and service that we received. We were also impressed by all the amenities the hotel offered as well as the several different pools, jacuzzis and saunas. We were excited to see a pool for children as well as we are expecting a baby due in August. We most definitely will be back to visit next time we come to Myrtle Beach! We believe our baby will love it too. Coral Beach Resort is very family friendly and we are looking forward to our next trip!!

We've stay at this hotel from July 13 to 16th. When we checked in, you got a room with only a partial ocean view. We were basically located on the 1st floor on the exterior parking lot. My wife went back to the reception and asked to be upgraded to ocean front. not a huge difference in price. The room had 2 double bed, bathroom, seprate living/dininng room and a full kitchen.

The service is great.

Parking and WIFI are free.

I thought this place was way too expensive for what it offers. USD170 for an ocean view room, which after taxes comes to over USD200. The common parts have been refurbished, but the rooms and corridors are run down and and in real need of redecorating and updating. For the naive, it is worth mentioning that the difference between 'Ocean front' room and 'Ocean view' room is crucuial. See the attached photo for the Ocean view from my room. Technically I could see the Ocean, but it wasn't what I was expecting for over USD200. For rooms this basic you can go to anywhere on the strip and get a proper sea view for a lot less money. There are multiple pools, but the indoor pool is murkey and the saunas are in an awful state. The food is pretty basic and eating healthily here is a real challenge. The service is pretty poor as well. We had to call down at 5pm on the second day to get our room made up and the guy on the phone was completely unappologetic and asked if we would mind not having the room done that day!

Just got back from a 5 day stay and it was great. Honestly the only issue we had was their was trying to get chairs at the pool. They had plenty of them just a lot of people!! the pools were relaxing and there was something for all ages with a nice bar and lounge area in between with a grill and DJs/entertainment. Access to the beach was very convenient with two nice showers when entering back in. Parking was plentiful. Starbucks was a savior and they had plenty of stuff to do from fitness room, to gift shop with anything you need, arcade and bowling alley. Plenty of vending and ice and laundry areas. Sometimes the elevators took some time but you cant blame the hotel for being so busy haha. The rooms were great with everything we needed and the hotel staff were only super friendly and accommodating. The hotel is also in a good location not far at all from all the action. Loved everything about it and will definitely be back!

This was our first "big" family vacation, and I have to say we were very pleased with Coral Beach Resort. I have four boys from ages 13 to 3, and there was something for everyone. Access to the beach was very easy for my older kids, and my younger boys loved the kiddie pool. Our room was clean and we really enjoyed the kitchen - made the trip very affordable, since we ate breakfast and lunch in the room every day. The staff was amazing - they really went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The second day we were there, they had some air conditioning issues in the common areas, and this huge crane was over the kiddie pool, closing it down for a while. My three year old bawled. One of the maintenance staff asked us our name and room number, and when we returned to the room they had given us beach toys for our trouble. The bowling alley/arcade was great for the kids, and the Starbucks on site was a Godsend for the adults! The only cons I had were the elevators. A couple of them didn't work all the time, and the elevators for the cleaning staff didn't work for two days of our stay, so they were having to wait with their huge carts with the guests. I felt really bad for them having to try to maneuver those around with impatient guests. Also, we had a big group, and had two vehicles. My father offered to pay for a parking pass, and the garage (which was nice) had plenty of available spaces, but instead he had to park 3 miles away, which in traffic seemed like an eternity. It would have been nice since they had the space, if he could have just parked there. All in all, we would definitely return, and have already talked about next year's trip!
