“GOOD PRICE - NOT SO GOOD ACCOMIDATIONS”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2008

We have stayed at Ocean Creek about 10 years ago with friends, that stay there every summer. We were disappointed this time, starting with the long check-in - we arrived at 4:00 and could not get in our room until 5:30 - with 2 small children running around the lobby - this was a lousy start to our trip. When we finally got in the room - our non-smoking room has cigarette burns all over the carpet in front of the couch - the sliding glass door would not open - there were dead bugs in the living room floor - the lights were burnt out in the bathroom - the television had no power button (the button was missing - which left a hole that was just the right size for little finger) - the remote in the bedroom was missing the back and the batteries kept falling out. We called management and they sent maintenance to change the light bulbs and tell us they couldn't fix the sliding glass door. The handle popped off the sliding glass door and we had to just leave it there.

We had trouble getting getting enough towels and our bed was made one time in the 5 nights we were there. There was no cleaning done while we were there at all.

We liked the location but the maintenance and cleaning needs some work. We reported our problems to the manager and she gave us some free vouchers for breakfast in their restaurant, which was nice but the food was just okay.

I'm not sure we would stay there again, we tried to get in to see a room in the towers - we were staying in the lodges - and the front desk said the didn't have a room available to view - I was very disappointed.

Overall, we really liked the beach access and the location of the resort - just think they need some major work done in the rooms.

We just spent 6 days at Ocean Creek and had a great trip. Our condo was a little older - it was obviosuly decorated in the 80's when mauve carpet was in style - but it was clean and spacious.
The pools, grounds and beach areas were very nice. It was a nice walk to the beach and even better when you could catch a tram ride. Everyone working there was very nice and helpful. We would return to Ocean Creek and probably will vacation with friends there next year. Our friends went to the Myrtle Beach Resort, paid twice what we paid and there condo was smaller. I think we got a great bargin and could not have been happier. The resort was quiet and safe retreat in the heart of everything happening in North Myrtle Beach. We could choose to stay at the resort or venture across the street to Barefoot Landing - it was the best of both worlds.

My boyfriend and I booked this resort for ourselves and two of our friends because they were running a great deal. We arrived at about 2 p.m. and they let us check in although check-in was not until 4. The staff at the front desk were great! They were all very pleasant, patient, and willing to help us with anything. We stayed in a one-bedroom lodge villa. Our unit was very comfortable, clean, and spacious. There were several pools, an indoor pool, and a hot tub just for the villas. Housekeeping was absoloutely excellent and you could call for assistance 24 hours a day. I would definately stay here again.

We had a somewhat negative experience a few years ago with cleanliness, etc., and were a bit wary of staying again. However, the price was good and we like the location, and the last condo wasn't horrendous (not ideal, and we aren't picky), so we gave it another try. What a huge difference for us! The condo was in Lodge 4 and was about spotless. It was quite updated, had a great flat screen tv for the kids, king size bed (keep in mind each condo is different ). We rented through the property.

Can't emphasize enough that this time it was CLEAN. No mold on the ironing board, no restaurant leftovers in the fridge, no hairs in the bathroom. The maid came shortly after we arrived to give us dish towels. We are pretty neat and didn't need daily cleaning, but they did trade us for towels each day, gave us fresh coffee, etc.. We were so pleasantly surprised this time around. Also, the property *is* older and perhaps the buildings don't look all shiny and new, but we thought they looked freshly painted and nicer than before. The pool was very clean - we don't need fancy beach chairs. The economy is definitely affecting travel - far fewer people around than we've ever experienced - and the resort was unbelievably quiet and calm. Beach was nice as always. We had a very, very good experience here and will come again, as long as we get the same cleanliness as before.

We were kind of nervous as we had stayed in a different resort before, but wanted to try Ocean Creek. We will be staying here for many years to come.
It was great. There is security, it is so peaceful and beautiful. There is a salt water creek with hermit crabs and other wildlife. There are ducks in the pond, as well as turtles. Everyone at Ocean Creek was very nice. We stayed in Lodge 1 in a one bedroom and it was beautiful - updated with beautiful tile and hardwood floors. I would recommend this resort to anyone. It made the whole week virtually stress free.

We have stayed at Ocean Creek at least 10 times over the last 12 years.. In the past it has been as nice as one could ask for.
However, do not expect that now. It begin with check in and went downhill from there. Our room was not what we reserved or what we were told we would have... and of course we could not move until the following day. The sliding glass door handle was broken, and the door required two people to open. The shower knob was broken, the air conditioner clanked like it was on its last legs... and the first room had a very suspicious looking brown stain on the bathroom wall. The overall appearance was one of neglect..and not at all what one is used to at this resort.
We will not return.. and I say that with sadness because we have enjoyed staying here for years... and the beach access has always been nice.. but hate to see what one more year under the current management brings!

This resort is beautiful and secure. We stayed in tower North and rented the condo through vacations by owner. There is a beautiful beach, a creek to play/swim in as well as several swimming pools. The location is at the south end of North Myrtle Beach, so it isn't as crowded, yet close to everything. Barefoot Landing is right across the street with shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The resort is perfect for families looking for a relaxing beach vacation.
