Stayed here for 2 nights in late October as part of a South Carolina trip. When we arrived before 1pm and went to check in the front desk clerk was very accomodating and allowed us to check in early as another room the same as the one we had booked was available.
We stayed in the north tower on about the 5th floor in an ocean front room. I would pay the extra money to stay in an ocean front room as the view is quite nice and you get to see the sunrise and hear the ocean waves. The rooms do need to be refreshed by being updated but are adequate and have a full fridge, sink, microwave and stove. We stayed in a 2 double bed room, it said queen but the beds seemed smaller. Single king beds are not available for the oceanfront views in the north and south towers and are only available in the middle office building which overlooks the large pool and wouldnt give you as nice of an ocean front view as the towers do as they are taller.
The only real negative was the beds in our room. They seemed to be worn out and lacked the support they once had. They are probably older and need to be replaced because of all the hotels we slept in on our vacation these beds were the worst.
Other then that the stay was nice. The place wasnt very crowded like it is in the summer and we were able to enjoy the beach, going into the ocean and the heated pools at the hotel. This location is ideal if you dont need to be right in the heart of all the activity in Myrtle Beach. Its a nice location because you are close to Broadway at the Beach and are closer to North Myrtle where there is more shopping.
All in all, I would recommend staying here as the staff, location and amenities are great.

My husband and I decided to take a trip to the beach during Christmas of 2012. We had an oceanfront room that was very clean and neat. A beautiful view of the beach and the ocean. The staff (front desk and cleaning) were wonderful in every way. The front desk staff gave us a list of places open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We had stayed here before and would stay again. Uncle John's restaurant has great breakfast food which is reasonable and convenient. A great trip thanks to Dayton House.

I decided to stay at The Dayton House during a short business trip in late December, based on Trip Advisor and Hotel.Com reviews. I had a direct ocean front efficiency that looked out over their bright green lawn with palmetto trees, to a sandy beach complete with those little wood slat sand barrier fences and lots of crashing waves underneath a cloudy sky. The water looked so clean and clear! Too bad it was so cold outside!! This place has several buildings, and the atmosphere is very nice and friendly. I met a few snowbirds from Canada who are repeat visitors. The location was very convenient to everything...far enough from the hubbub of downtown Myrtle Beach yet still close enough to walk to almost anything you would need, including a PIggly Wiggly grocery store and the new boardwalk and sky wheel. (It's a long walk, don't kid yourself, but it's walk-able.) The one thing that was disappointing was the annoying $10 "resort fee" tacked onto my room rate. Resort fee for what? OK I suppose they need to keep the heat in the hot tub turned on, but believe me there was nobody swimming in those outdoor pools!! The fitness center is located 1.5 blocks behind the hotel and it looked nicely equipped and smelled nice and clean, although I didn't use it...decided to go for a run instead! All in all, I liked this place and would come here again.

My husband and two daughters stayed at Dayton House in November and even though we arrived early, they still accomodated us! Thanks to the great staff who helped us. The room was very clean and spacious as well. My husband and kids enjoyed the pool and I very much enjoyed the hot tub.
