“Great place to stay in Myrtle Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2009

Marina Inn at Grande Dunes is a great hotel. I stayed there with my family in August 2009 for a week and very much enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is very pretty and has all the amenities you would want in a resort hotel. The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom suite which had a kitchen and a very nice size 'family room' with a TV, couch, chairs and dinning table. The bathrooms and kitchens had granite counters. The furniture looked new and the beds and couches were very comfortable. For a family of 4 (including a teenager) we had plenty of room.

The hotel is 3-4 minute drive from the beach. The hotel offers a free shuttle to take you to and from the beach. This was very convenient for us. At the beach, they provide free beach chairs, umbrellas and towels. They also have a 'lodge' at the beach where you can order food/drinks, changing rooms and bathrooms. Their facility is located next to the Marriott OceanWatch hotel. The hotel location is an easy 8-10 min drive north of "Broadway at the Beach" and about the same distance south of the Tanger Outlet Mall. Very convenient.

We ate at the hotel for several meals, and all of the meals were very good whether it was Waterscapes for breakfast, poolside dinning for lunch or the Anchor Cafe for lunch. We also LOVED Ruth Chris Steakhouse which is on their property.

The pool area is very pretty and my kids really enjoyed playing in their pool. At the same time, the pool area is not so overcrowded and wild that you could not sit out and read a book quietly. The hotel overlooks the marina and is very very pretty. The hotel employs an activities director for kids and my kids enjoyed the activities they did participate in. The hotel also had free wireless internet, and free valet parking which were appreciated.

The price we paid for our stay was probably the best part. We paid 30% less at Marina Inn than we would have paid to sublet a timeshare at Marriott OceanWatch (and 75% less than what we would have paid to rent directly from Marriott).

When you consider the upscale/luxury nature of the hotel, its good location, its great staff, its spacious suites, and the price, there is no doubt that the Marina Inn is the perfect spot to stay. We enjoyed it and want to go back!

This had to be one of the best hotels I've stayed at. My firend and I planned a girls weekend getaway to SC. We spent 2 nights in Charleston and one in Myrtle Beach. This was to be a relaxing trip to help us prepare for the busy school year ahead as we both have small children.

From the time we pulled up to the Marina Inn we were in awe! Every detail from the beautiful lobby to the rocking chairs outside for your comfort while waiting for valet were well thought out. Our plan was to check in and head out to check out the sights of Myrtle Beach. That never happened. Once we checked it we were absorbed with the resort and all it had to offer. We opted instead to put on our bathing suits and head to the poolside (with the convenient poolside bar). For dinner we walked to Ruth's Chris which was located right outside the pool area and had one of the best dinners. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was wonderful!!! You must try the bananas foster! We enjoyed breakfast in our complimentary robes on the balcony enjoying the view of the boats going by.

This was by far one of the best experiences I've had and I plan on going back with my husband.

I spent four days and three nights in Myrtle Beach with my family, my spouse and a 6 year old. We decided on a new spot to vacation this year, the economy is so screwed up, our San Diego plans went out the door like Californias state tax checks..anywho, we were pleasantly pleased with the decision we made. MB was great, the weather was gorgeous 80's-90s with lots of humidity.
---The HOTEL: Nice, clean, and quiet. We went mid week and it appeared to be some empty rooms. Our room 6504 had a veiw of the marina, the golf course, the fire pit, and the bridge to the villas. The room was clean, aside from a few things it was good. (There were two light switches that didn't work for anything, but I think the two lamps that may have been operated by the switch had blown bulbs. A couple cracks, dents and dings in the wall or floor ( a bit more than a 4 star should have) but it was okay. The Anchor Cafe was good, try the peach tea...tasty. WaterScapes restaurant has really good breakfast and one kid eats free per one paying adult, that was a plus. There was a Ruth Chris Steakhouse on the grounds, we didnt' eat there because we can get that at home. The outdoor pools were nice and clean and never overly crowded the "kiddie" pool" was great it went from 1-3' deep just right for a six year old who can't swim yet. The indoor pool had too much chlorine in it. The grounds were beautiful, well kept and huge. They must have a major pest control contract, there were almost no annoying bug on the grounds. I was so suprised to see that the balconies were not enclosed with screen like in Florida. I can't say the same about other areas, we were attacked by flies outside of a restaurant.

The BEACH was great. The water was like bath water. It's about a 5 minute drive from the hotel (there is a free shuttle from the hotel). The Marina Inn has a private portion of the beach, it was nice and quite with beach chairs and umbrellas. There is also a cafe that you can charge items to your room.

ATTRACTIONS: Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot landing were ok, but you have to go mid-day( before 5pm) to avoid that mass crowds and no parking. Market Common was a nice quiet, suburban like shopping center, we ate dinner at Tommy Bahamas, it was tasty.

It was nice. MB reminds me of a mini Florida, I loved the swayt tay (sweet tea) and I got a kick outta the southern accents, especially when heard a southerner call up north "yankeeville". Great family trip I must say.

This is actually the second time I have stayed at the Marina Inn. This is an amazing property with immaculate, spacious rooms, good restaurants and beautiful landscaping. On this trip, we arrived late at night and were greeted by some really nice guys who handled the valet parking and the luggage. Our check-in was complete in under 5 minutes. When we got to the room, we realized that one of the suspended celing tiles had been left down (due to maintenance that had taken place). We called the front desk and a maintenance person was there in less than one minute to take care of it. We received a call shortly after from the concierge, apologizing for something that was really not a big deal. The rooms and bathrooms are huge, tastefully decorated, and comfortable. The only thing that is missing is that there are no in-room movies. Not a big deal, but would be nice.

We ate at Waterscapes and at the restaurant right on the Marina. Service was excellent at both places and the food was fabulous. The pool at the Marina Inn is really nice, and towels and chairs are abundant.

The shuttle to the beach was nice, but be warned...get there early or you will find yourself without a chair, umbrella or towel! We took the shuttle at around 1:00 and when we got to the beach, there was not a chair or umbrella to be found. We ended up leaving and only had to use a phone located at the front of the beach entrance to call for the shuttle.

Overall, a great stay at the Marina Inn. If you like Myrtle Beach but want a quiet location away from the attractions, this is a nice place to stay!

Yes, the Marina Inn is beautiful. Yes, this place is luxurious. Yes, the folks working here are top notch in that they are extremely friendly and professional. If you are coming to Myrtle on business and don't give a hoot about the beach I would strongly recommend the Marina Inn. Unfortunately, for us, it was way, way off the beaten path to the beach. The children seemed to like it, but it was not kid friendly in the sense that they could walk out the door and set up shop on the beach. To be sure this is not the fault of the Marina Inn, but rather our fault. We all agree that we should have re-thought our choice and stayed in an oceanfront establishment.

We stayed at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes over the 4th of July weekend and loved every moment of it. The staff was courteous and professional, and the hotel was just beautiful and luxurious. Our room overlooked the pool, which has an infinity edge and two hot tubs-- even though there were many other guests staying at the hotel over the holiday weekend, we practically had the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves every evening. The hotel provides a shuttle to the semi-private beach, which also has a cabana bar and towel, umbrella, and beach chair service. The Marina Inn at Grande Dunes takes care of everything, so all you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your time in Myrtle Beach. Can't wait to go back!

this place is amazing. I am the most skeptical when it comes to hotels and such, and based on the Marina Inn's reviews, I chose to plan a 4 night stay with 6 of my close lady friends. We are all from ages 20-23. This place is absolutely gorgeous. When we arrived there was a wedding going on, perfect place for a nice wedding. decor is fab.

We stayed in the 2-bdrm caribbean suite. I was better than I expected. Affordable as well. It is not directly on the beach; however, the hotel has a private section on the beach in which you have access to chairs and umbrellas (free shuttle service to the beach as well).

Valet/Bell service is great. Bruce and Ray are the best. They helped us in and out of our vehicle every time.

Overall, my stay was one to remember because of the Marina's great property. I am going back soon.

BTW. the suite looked just like the photoes!
