“Quiet, uncrowded, great beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2009

Stayed here late July. This small hotel (5 floors) has surface parking on site, no parking deck , which we really liked. The room was extremely quiet and very clean. Staff was attentive and helpful. There is nothing built in front of the hotel to obstruct the ocean view; however, the beach is across the street (this street is a two lane road, not a highway or busy city street and is very easy to cross, even with a child). The hotel is situated in a residential neighborhood, with no huge resorts on either side of it. The best part of this, and it makes it well worth it to cross the street to the beach, is that once you are on the beach, you can see the huge crowds in both directions, but there are very few people sharing the beach with you, even in the month of July. The hotel advertises that the rooms have been recently redecorated and we found ours to be nice and it did appear to have been updated with new carpet, drapes, etc. - The facility itself seems to be a bit older, but we thought it was very well kept and maintained. Housekeeping actually CLEANED the room and bathroom during our stay, instead of just replacing the towels. If you are looking for a bar, restaurant, hot tub, or waterslide, they don't have any of that here. But the room was quiet and clean, other guests were also quiet, and the beach was amazing- We loved it and will definitely be back.

we stayed at cabana shores this past sun thru thurs and were very satisfied. We usually stay at Dayton house and come in the off season. This was the only time off we had and wanted to go to the beach. We chose this area hoping for relative quiet for this time of year and were not disappointed. We never needed a crowbar to pry our way into the pool, no huge crowds on this stretch of beach. The 2 br suite was ample for the 5 of us providing needed privacy to insure calm tempers. Roadway in front of motel not a big deal. I noticed several small maintenance issues, but none interfered with our comfort or stay. I dreaded trying to find restaurants this time of year, the places where we normally eat had one hour min. waits for seating. We found a coupe of sustitutes that were acceptable. If we ever come back to MB in high season this will be the place.

My wife and kids had never seen the ocean and decided to pick Myrtle Beach over Florida. I'm glad we did, the trip was great. We wanted to pick a reasonable place with a good ocean view. I'm glad we picked Cabana Shores! The rooms were basic but clean. The motel is an older motel and does show some of it's years of wear and tear (to be expected). The room did have nice up to date furniture though. We got an efficency with a kitchen and it was equiped and clean. The view was great!!! As somebody already pointed out the motel is actually across the street form the beach but is still very close. I think (but am not certain) that the motel owns the property across the street so there is nothing to block your beautiful view. As a matter of fact there are no buildings or structures across the street anywhere near the hotel to block your view. The location itself was worth every penny. It is next to a residential area so it is not next to other crowded resorts and the beach is not crowded either and you are still close to all of the tourist attractions, if that's what you like. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As a matter of fact the owners mother talked to us on a couple occasions to ask if we were having a good time. She also walked out to the parking lot see us off when we left. She was very nice lady. The whole staff was very friendly. The hotel was also very child and family friendly and we got it at a great price. We will definetly return. Don't get me wrong, there is no valet parking (as far as I know) or little mints on your pillow but if you want a great location, clean bed to sleep in and a friendly staff all at a VERY reasonable price pick Cabana Shores!

My fiance (now husband) and I were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay and came across Cabana Shores. Looking at the picture on the internet...I thought it was oceanfront but when we got there...it's across the street. At first I was disappointed but quickly got over it! I loved this little place! The beach was not littered with people and was only a short walk from our room. We had a room that walked right out to the pool which was really nice! We are going back again this year!

Super uncrowded location and great value. We are "near everything" and located in a very nice area. The beach is less crowded and the "rooms are very clean".
Located ocean front with pool overlooking ocean. Very short walk (across small road) to an uncrowded beach - major plus, as many MB beach access areas are overcrowded! Central location so you can venture to all of the must see attractions!

I was hesitant to book this hotel for our first trip to Myrtle Beach after reading the reviews on trip advisor and a couple of other forums. We have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. When we go to the beach we go for the beach and little else. The hotel was clean and adequate for us. We had a ocean view room and the view was great. The road in front of the hotel is never busy and as much as I love being at a beach front hotel, this road was not an inconvenience at all. Matter of fact I would rather cross this road to go to my private beach rather than walk through scores of people to get to the crowded beach at the nearest large condominiums. It literally takes 2 minutes max to get to the beach from your hotel door and you and 6 other people have 300 yards of beach to yourself. (and we went during a busy time of the year) Service was adequate for what we needed. No bar to drink at, no restaraunt or game room, but like I said, we go for the beach and little else. If your looking for a lot of action, glitz and glamour this is not it. If you want a small ,clean hotel with little action and a great beach, this is it. One block from kings hiway and just minutes from all the action, but tucked away in a great neighborhood with little of anything else.

We were not sure what to expect as we approcahed the hotel from the back in the dark. At the front desk we were greeted by a happy face and were glad to find our room was VERY CLEAN and quiet. The pool area was a great place for us to enjoy our morning coffee and then it was just a walk across the street to the most beautiful section of beach on the strand. Spacious and uncrowded, we enjoyed playing frisbee and flying kites without worrying about crowds. The hotel is about a five minute drive from the 14th street pier and we found that it was worth the drive to the crowds at night to have the peace during the day. The staff was wonderful, polite and informative, and we really enjoyed our balcony. We were not looking for anything fancy, just a place to relax and this really hit the mark. We would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quiet interlude.
