Impressive! Upon entering Ocean 17, we were greeted by, and seated by, the manager. He gave us an overview of the restaurant's fresh, healthy, concept. He informed us that there is nothing in the freezer, ALL of their food is fresh. This is a very appealing approach!
Since it was our last night in Myrtle Beach, we decided to make an early night of it, and arrived around 5:45 for dinner. Our server informed us that EVERYTHING on the menu was 20% off between 5:00 and 7:00. So it was our lucky night...Everything 20% off included wine, appetizers, entrees, EVERYTHING!
It was a nice wine selection (next time we'll get a bottle) at affordable prices.
The appetizer we chose was the Tuna Tartar. Fresh and delicious! My husband said it was so good, that he could just come in, sit at the bar, have some wine and two orders of the Tuna Tartar and call it a day. I have to say, it was soooo good, that I could have done the same :)
Even the bread was fantastic and light.
On to the entree's...... I had the seared scallops. They were cooked perfectly (buttery and silky). They were accompanied by risotto in a lemon butter sauce, which were divine.
My husband had the duck, which was prepared with a cherry and port wine sauce, which was good enough to lick the place. He added a side of Lyonnaise potatoes, which were a nice accompaniment.
We asked the server for a recommendation for dessert, and we were not disappointed. I can't remember the name of it, but it was 4 (halves of scoops) of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, with almonds, and a cherry in the center. Absolutely delicious!
If you are looking for a fine dining experience in Myrtle Beach, make sure you visit Ocean 17. They are by far, the best the beach has to offer.
