“Beautiful Property, Very Family Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2010

My family and I just returned from our seven night stay at OceanWatch. We were in the newly opened Pine Building since we own a Gardenview villa. All units at MOW are 2bed/2bath and are very nicely appointed. I will try to touch on the basics, but please feel free to e-mail me if you have any specific questions.

Check-In: Check-in was very easy and quick. There were two families in front of us, but we were at the check-in desk no more than ten minutes, including waiting in line. We were also provided a VIP card which gave us discounts at many popular restaurants and businesses.

Condition of Unit & Property: The unit was very nice and in great condition. The pool and common areas were also very clean and well maintained.

Kitchen Features: The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware as well as Palmolive, dishwasher detergent and plenty of towels. The villas have a nice full-size range, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher.

Planned Activities: We were quite impressed with the planned activities for the week. Many activities were family oriented and some were more geared toward certain age groups, but it was nice to see activites for adults as well as children. The activities by the campfire are nice (smores, etc.) and my son enjoyed bingo at the pool as well as the ice cream sundaes in the afternoons. I also think the "Kids Night In" is a great idea, however, we did not take advantage of it this year.

Amenities: The pools at MOW are wonderful! The Woodsy Pool is probably our favorite because of the waterslide and the close proximity to our villa, the treehouse, etc. MOW was at full capacity while we were there, but the pools didn't seem crowded at all. There were plenty of chairs, etc. My only suggestion would be that additional umbrellas or additional chairs with umbrellas should be added to the pool areas. The treehouse was very popular with my son because of the "fun factor" and very popular with me becasue of the "safety factor". Additonally, my husband enjoys the gym and the sauna almost everyday and did not feel it was overcrowded, etc. The MarketPlace is very nice for lunch or to grab something that you forgot at the grocery. It is very reasonably priced. The Pizza Hut was wonderful - we reveived great service and everything we ordered was delicious. The Woodsy Pool bar was good also.. Drinks were very reasonably priced - much cheaper than at most resorts. It should also be mentioned that MOW guests receive a discount at the adjacent Marriott's spa.

Staff: The staff at MOW is wonderful! They do all they can to make your trip enjoyable. Everyone from the pool staff to servers make it smile and always say hello. The Pool Supervisor at the Woodsy Pool was absolutely wonderful! He went above and beyond by always stopping to talk and even advising us of the weather and the UV index. He was great! The concierge staff was very helpful with setting up tee times, getting some great golf discounts and helping with dinner reservations/suggestions. Every request at MOW was addresses quickly and accurately!

Convenience to Area Attractions: One of the things we love the most about MOW is that we are close to attractions (golf, Broadway at the Beach, shopping, restaurants, etc.), but not too close. We like that MOW is away from the the hustle and bustle, but close enough to take advantage of it if we want!

Additional Fees: Nothing really applies here -- internet and parking are included.

Suitability: I would recommend MOW for families, relaxing, girls getaways, golf getaways, etc. Anyone who wants to stay at a great resort with an excellent staff should try MOW.

I hope this review has been helpful and again, please feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

This location is the reason that people own with Marriott. Sparling clean, friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful pools, right on the ocean with private beach access. All of us had a great experience and will keep coming back!

We just returned yesterday and enjoyed the property very much. We stayed in the Maple Leaf building on the first floor. Great access to the Woodsy area and pool if you have small children. The beach is a great walking beach, sand is soft and north of the Marriott there is a great swash for shelling at low tide. Do not rent the Marriott's chairs and umbrella. We did and found out that they take everything down at 4 p.m. Even if you have stuff on them. We were not pleased. The pools are all nice and they offer great activities for families and kids. The villas are well stocked with everything you will need. There is a superwalmart and dollar store within 5 minutes for stocking up on food and beach toys. The food at the pool bars and drinks are very reasonably priced compared to other Marriotts we have stayed at. The Marketplace is great and also fair priced. Our 4 year old loved the Woodsy pool. We went to Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach. Barefoot had nicer restaurants.

Paid the extra money for an Ocean Front and we were very close to the beach and the two center pools. The rooms were clean and we had space to spread out and feel at home. Having laundry facilities in our villa and the kitchen completely furnished was great. Spent lots of time at the three pools which were perfect for mixed age children. We also liked the location away from the crowds but close enough to go out to dine. The price was high but if you really want a home away from home in a beautiful location this is the place.

As my title says: We loved the resort so much... we bought a timeshare week. We bought an oceanfront view in the gold season. We did not stay in an ocean front unit this trip. We traded in from Interval and could not get that view. I was really disappointed at first, but they explained their tier system; Owners with mutiple weeks get first pick, then owners with single weeks, then owners from other Marriott, then renters, then Interval Exchanges. In other words, we were about 10 priority groups out of 12. So keep that in mind if you are trading in. Demand will make the difference. Having said that... it did not matter. We stayed on the 1st floor of the Pine Villas. It was beautiful and quiet. In fact, when we purchased we debated on just going with Garden view to retain that quiet and calm as we were afraid that there would be too much pool activity in the Oceanfront. But we didn't have much choice they only had Ocean Front for our season choice. So being in Pine was great. We were close to the Woodsy Pool area. It was a nice pool. Even though it had the water feature for the kids it was not the most populated pool and the kids that were there were occupied at their end. They had a water slide and sprinklers and activities. I really didn't understand why more families with kids weren't spending time at this pool. It was lovely for them. But the kids were mainly at the large pool or main pool. This area was too noisy for us. The pool was beautiful, warm and well maintained. There were lots of chairs, but if you want to sit by this pool be there at 8:30am to put your towel out or you will not get a seat, especially not one with shade. The resort does allow you to save seats at 8:30am. The lower, waterfall pool became our choice. It was near the beach, nice for adults. The first few days the waterfall did not work and so there were no screaming kids. However, later on they turned the waterfall on and that all changed. I can't tell you how many kids stood under that thing and just screamed. One child continously yelled Help. His mother was sitting at the pool bar one flight up and every once in a blue would stumble down with bikini half hanging off to yell at him. He'd tell her to go away and she would. Finally.... a Marriott employee came and took him out of the pool. Having said this, I still think it was overall a nice area to spend time. Pool bar service was great. Food was great. Loved the Grilled Chicken Sandwhich. Pizza Hut was wonderful. We'd get a pager at the pool bar, hang out in our chairs and go collect the food when it arrived. I drink a few drinks a day and so does hubby, plus we had lunch everyday at the pool bar, I had two spa trips at the Marriott next door (which were great) and we purchased items in the Market Place. For the week our expenses were about $800. Not too bad considering half of that was spa services. My only disappointment was the gentleman who worked front desk at check in. Not the nicest guy. Not really rude. Just not friendly. Didn't care for him too much. But no concrete complaint. Oh and stay away from the Seafare! Yuck! I got very sick and so did Hubby. The sales desk recommended them and it was awful. Also make sure you visit the sales desk. They gave us two coolers and lots of good coupons. The trip from our condo, which was furtherest from the beach to the beach took 3 minutes tops. It is not a far walk. But if you have trouble walking they will come in a golf cart and drive you. So don't let that worry you. The beach was pristine and quiet. Shell collecting was great. Seemed like nobody rents the chairs and they bring their own. The resort has cubbys which you can use to store your chairs when you leave the beach. There was some small trash items. That's users who don't care. So what can you say about that... not the resorts fault? The rooms were clean and comfortable and nicely appointed. Kitchen had everything we needed. The fridge took a day to cool up enough so bring a bag of ice. We had some of our own blankets, but we'd get cool and use them. So you might want to bring a few. The only think I do differently if I were the Marriott is designate one pool as the adult or 16 and above pool. Otherwise they do an excellent job. By the way.... they are very strict with what you can take in the pool. No balls, no floats. Only noodles and you can't smack them around. They will come and tell you to remove restricted items. In a nice way. A few people complained. I appreciated it as I got smacked in the side of the head by some kid throwing a football at the Sheraton pool. We had a great time and will be there every year.

First time we have stayed here at this timeshare resort. The 2 bedroom, 2 Bath units are a bit smaller than other Marriott timeshare resorts we have stayed in. Wonderful resort. Pools are lovely but shallow in depth. Plenty of lounge chairs around pool. Nice pool bar. Good gym and equipment. Easy parking. Beach is gorgeous. Balconies nice. Convenient marketplace store. Clean, nice, upscale resort. A bit noisy by the pool this week - lots of kids, although resort appears to have lots of kids activities. Great location in the upscale Dunes section of Myrtle Beach
