“Wonderful staff - beautiful property”

Marriott Resort at Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach

Jan 3, 2008

This was a return visit for us to this beautiful property. On each preceeding visit, we have found that the hotel is very clean and well maintained, the staff excellent and our room extremely comfortable. This visit was no different from our others. It is a delight to stay at a property where all the staff is helpful, gracious and eager to please. Kudos to management and the staff for their outstanding customer care. The beds are among the most comfortable of any we've encountered and the furnishings in the rooms are what you expect of a high end Marriott. Most of the construction on adjacent properties has been completed and the grounds are handsomely landscapped. The area around the several pools is particularly attractive. My only complaint is having to pay $10 for self parking. I would recommend this Marriott without reservation.

We stayed here for a romatic getaway...I hate hotels, and always take my own pillows, blankets, and sheets just to sleep overnight. However, this hotel is sooooooo clean, and sooooo comfortable!!! I have never enjoyed staying anywhere like I did here. (even Crown Plaza)
Each and every person who worked at the resort was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was as if we were the only people there.
We will never stay anywhere else in Myrtle Beach!!!!!!!!!!!

“A Last Minute Booking, A First Rate Marriott”

Marriott Resort at Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach

I had prior plans to stay elsewhere but somehow I managed to snag a $199 for 3 nights deal in exchange for previewing their Vacation Club villas...that was fine, I didn't mind, well done. Didn't buy but that's another story.

The property is secluded and beautiful - the staff is excellent at all they do - Chris the valet, Holly in the gift shop, and "Paula Deen's twin" at the Vacation Club desk were standouts.

My mom revelled in the view of the ocean from the balcony , the room was decent sized, clean, and the beds were heaven (new Revive bedding too)

Spa downstairs is a steal - for $10 you can use the steam/sauna/locker room - worth it - the pool is ok - strangely enough, on both AMs the pool area was unkempt - a quick call fixed that fast...

Mom loved the buffet breakfast and I loved the lobby to read/relax, and the balcony with Adirondack chairs to listen to the surf with a cup of coffee.

It is worthy of a resort status - and definitely worth the stay especially off season!

We found this hotel after a terrible experience at another hotel, The Grand Shores "resort" where we had been booked by our travel agent. We drove around Myrtle Beach and found the Marriott. Upon check-in we were instantly impressed. The front desk staff was very courteous and accomodating. The room was gorgeous with an amazing view and was very tastefully decorated. It was so nice to stay at a hotel where customer service was the first priority. Everyone we encountered at the hotel was so pleasant and accomodating. The restaurant and bar staff was excellent, as was the food. We had several great experiences with Brad, the food and beverage director (the bartender even called him at home to find out where a new rimming sugar he had told us about was kept as it was new) , the concierge staff was very accomodating, the girls who worked at the bar was excellent, and we also had a wonderful waiter at the restaurant named Fred. He was excellent - very attentive and helpful. One night when we ordered room service he asked the chef to make caramel sauce especially for our cheesecake and even followed up with a phone call to make sure that everything was ok! I wish that people in the service industry all acted like the staff and management at this resort. What a pleasant surprise after having such a terrible initial stay at the first hotel where we stayed. We would and will definitely return to this resort. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there.

“Excellent Resort - Great Customer Service!”

Marriott Resort at Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach

I've wanted to stay at this property since it was built, but with two little ones, we've always stayed at the Embassy suites down the road. This time it was just my husband and me for our anniversary - this was my chance! Turned out to be great. Only a couple of minor complaints...

Melissa who checked me in was so great - she upgraded me to an ocean front and then sent us dessert and champayne upon hearing it was our anniversary.

The outdoor hot tub is huge and is fun to brave the cold to get to. The indoor hot tub is too small.

The room is small, but lovely. We were lucky to actually have a balcony after hearing other reviews. We braved double beds even though they are more like queens.

The breakfast buffet was pricey, but worth it for at least one morning splurge. They had everything to eat including vegatarian bacon!

The Bar was great for desserts and Irish Coffee's.

The spa was good except for two small complaints - The steam room was not steamy at all! I think I could provide more steam with my tea kettle. I let someone know (in the spa) and they didn't think anything was wrong with it. I also didn't like how you have to walk in the common areas to get ot your locker. The massage was great - Jenny did a great job!

We will be back without the kids. The Embassy Suites seems more kid friendly.

Kudos to Melissa, Holly (in the gift shop) Kristen and Jen and everyone who made our stay memorable! We had a blast!
