Stay away from this resort. The pictures do not accurately illustrate the true condition of the resort. It was dirty, old and generally up to the standard of a 2 star resort. Beyond this, the service levels were horrible and the staff did as little as possible to attend to guest needs.

We visited Long Bay for our Honey Moon largely based upon the pictures.
The hotel requires advanced payment and this should have been a clear indication of problems. Obviously, they do not offer refunds for early checkout.

We paid for 5 days but checked out by day 2 despite no refunds, etc. Do not waste your money and, more importantly, your valuable time with this resort.

Again, do not be misled by the "picture of tranquility" as the resort is quite different in person.

We enjoyed a week of fun and relaxation at the Long Bay Resort over April school break. Our room was super clean and the full kitchen was great for our family of five. We will be returning for April break 2004.

We just returned from a stay at the Long Bay Resort and enjoyed it very much. I thought the hotel was very nice, pretty and clean. Pool areas were well taken care of. Yes there didn't seem to be enough lounge chairs, but people clearly ignore signs posted not to "save" lounge chairs while they are elsewhere for most of the day. Also the lazy river situation is kinda crazy, but that is the fault of parents who are not watching their kids get out of control. This actually includes several rude adults who also did not behave properly. The hotel can't be blamed for guests who have no common courtesy or manners. Maid service was excellent. Didn't eat at the formal restaurant (seemed a little too expensive), but the Pool Cafe had very good food at fairly reasonable prices. They had a nice activities program our 8 year old really liked. We also have 2 teenagers and they liked everything there very much. I would say we completely enjoyed our stay there, would recommend it and would go back again to this hotel.

I have been to Myrtle Beach many times but this is the first (and last) year that I will stay at the Long Bay Resort. The front desk staff were not friendly. We were given a room on the first floor that had a "balcony" overlooking the parking lot of the next hotel. However, if you leaned over the railing really really far you MIGHT get a glimpse of the ocean. The so-called balcony had resin furniture that was too dirty to sit in, and it was also very close to the street, it just didn't feel safe at all. You couldn't even open your curtains without the people in the parking lot of the next hotel being able to see your every move. Oh, and did I mention that the front door of the room opened into the dark, hot parking garage? Lovely! So if you do make reservations at this place, ask for a higher floor. The staff did help us change rooms the next day, so that's one plus. There are not enough lounge chairs for all the guests, so you have to save your chair at 6am (!), plus the chairs are so close together that the guests are packed together like a bunch of sardines. I could go on and on. If you decide to stay at this place, be afraid. Be very afraid...

I just returned from a horrible beach weekend at the Long Bay. I have stayed there in the past and not noticed all the problems I did this time. To begin with, there were wayyy too many unsuperivsed children there. A good 1/3 of the resort appeared to be under the age of 14.
When we arrived we were greeted by a 12 year old riding the elevator up and down. We were pushed and shoved in the lazy river by children with no floats. There were at least 20 kids in the lazy river just playing and chasing each other. There were kids diving in the pool (shallow end), shoving each in and splashing hotel guests for the fun of it. The hot tubs were loaded with children. This resort seems to be the place to dump your kids off. Also, the people in the restaurant (which is way overpriced) were extremely rude to us. The cleaning lady could not wait for us to get out of the room each day. She drove us crazy! The day we left she was in our room taking down our shower curtain 30 minutes before checkout time. The pool area was too crowded. We were unable to find a chair to layout or to even put our stuff. Unless you have kids or enjoy them a lot, this place is probably not for you.
