4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

We stayed at the Camelot on April 10-12, 2015. I have nothing to complain about, nice and friendly staff, front desk staff was very informative and eager to help in any way. it was convienent to a lot of shops and restaurants, we had a very nice time and will definitely stay there again, although this is not my first time staying here, it was nice then and still is today!! Had a great time!!

This property sits on the beach at 21st and North Ocean Blvd. Nice place, very Myrtle beachy - if you are familiar with the construct - typically concrete; etc.

Rooms:
The room was exactly what we needed. We were in the two bedroom with two bathroom condo. It also has a fully kitchen with two sauce pots and some glass cookware, utensils, drinking glasses, etc.etc. Turn your ice maker on when you arrive. Beds are great - one King, two Queens, one sleeper sofa - we had five kids with us who were 16 and under plus two adults.

Hotel:
We rented directly from the hotel web site. We paid in full at the time of the booking to get the best rate. The staff was nice. The indoor pools were nice and the outdoor pool and hot tub looked great. There are other places in Myrtle with fancier but this was all about the kids having a great time.

The bar at the outside pool is privately run and, when we were there, only accepted cash. They are unable to place any charges onto your room. Beware of the beach concoctions they make for kids. Our kids loved them and they are $5.00 each; habit forming. Adult beverage prices for beer a little high but WTH; you are at the beach; on the beach for that matter.

Beach:
Access to the beach from the hotel is great. Small walk down a private pier. Small tents with a couple of beach chairs rent for $35/day or there is a weekly rate for around $130-150; cannot recall that price. Rent directly from the MB Lifeguard on duty at the beach.

Our beach travel tips when you rent a condo:
* Bring dish wash detergent pellets and clothes detergent.

* Pop-up tents are not allowed on the beach, you pretty much have to rent what is out there - it may be possible to bring your own umbrella but this is nothing like pitching a 10X10 in OBX for a full day; it's just too crowded in MB for that.

* The washer and dryer are small and the dryer is not very fast. We recommend you hang your clean beach towels on the balcony railing to dry faster.

* There is a Dollar General store literally one block in front of the hotel and a Piggly Wiggly grocery store just to the left of that - both on North King's Hwy. Don't over pay for small items you need by visiting the mini mart attached to the hotel or at the mini mart directly across the street - that one wanted $7.99 for a regular sized box of Fruit Loops.

* We always travel to the beach with the following items on hand - paper towels, TP, sunscreen, salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic, soy sauce, - basically the stuff there is absolutely no reason to buy when you get down there!

Hope this helps.

Had a nice stay at this hotel. People were friendly, room were clean. I didn't realize that it was spring break and Easter weekend. The Easter bunny must have been delivering baskets on my floor the entire night as it was quite noisy. I would stay here again and recommend to others.
There was an incident at the indoor pools where 5 or 6 children were sent to the hospital due to vapors of chlorine making them ill. The bar tender called 911 and the response was a bit slow in my opinion but the front desk said all were ok when I inquired at checkout.

Not too large of a campus, but nice and clean. This is our second time staying here. Parking right outside our room. Definitely recommend. Close to Broadway at the beach and the boardwalk. Staff very accommodating.

Horrible! Dirty! Old! Unsafe! Do not book this location. Sink chipped. Tile floor in bathroom was filthy. The towel I put down to step on after showering was filthy dark grey on the side that was touching the tile. The chlorine levels in the pool were so high it made our skin red with hives/rashes which itched all night even after several showers. Several families had the same issue with the pool but the hotel was argumentative and said it was fine even though an ambulance ended up having to be called for some kids that were having reactions and breathing issues. We saw a kid on a stretcher with oxygen on because of the pool but the argumentative staff at the front desk claimed there was no issue. No mention the pool tech said the levels were high. If you paid me I wouldn't stay at this location so I wouldn't book it no matter how great of a deal. I book based on ratings not price and this was rated high (the site I booked through said it should not of had a high rating but should've shown "still gathering reviews"). I do not book places that are "still gathering reviews" and I will think twice about what sites I use to book as I've just found out they aren't as reliable as I once thought. This location is a no go. It's not safe, not clean, and the customer service is AWFUL!

This was not at all what I thought it would be. While checking in the computers kept freezing and shutting down which made the process twice as long. When we first got to the room we thought it was ok, a little small. Upon further inspection we noticed lots of hair in the bathroom and we were unable to see the view because of how high the bars were. We were told we had an oceanfront room which was true if you positioned yourself right and look through the trees. We could only hear the ocean when the waterfall directly under our room was turned off. I called the front desk about the hairs and was told there was no one there to come and clean. I was offered no apologies, it was if this was normal and he wasn't surprised. I finally had to ask if there was something available for me to clean it and was told there may not be but if there was he'd send it by security. Security arrived 15 mins later with cleaner and a cleaning towel for me to clean a room that should of already been cleaned before I checked in. There was also lots of noise. They were renovating the room next door and we were awoken by banging and hammering that lasted until we left. The workers got the rooms mixed up and knocked on our door and said nothing when we answered just went to the right room and knocked there. I don't think this is a place I'd stay again.

Stayed at the Camelot for 3 nights at the end of our visit to Myrtle Beach. Enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about not only their hotel but the surrounding attractions and events.

The hotel was almost completely booked up when we arrived so we ended up on the Penthouse floor, the 19th floor. Normally we like to stay on about the 3rd floor so we can use the stairs for exercies and speed of leaving the building. My wife is not keen on being way up high. We considered switching to a lower level , but being at capacity we toughed it out and actually enjoyed the view of the coast line and the ocean view. Tried to spot dolphins out there but they were not cruising the area during our visit.

The room was well set up with the 2 queen beds in the first room, at the entrance from the outside hallway. In the middle was a very clean and user friendly bathroom. The shower was very comforting, even with the water having to travel from way down below. The kitchen area was small but served our purpose, eating. Counter space was very small. The living room/dining room was a good size and lead out to the door way to the balcony which was probably big enough for 4 people. It took a while for us to be able to look over the railing without getting our fear of heights mode kick in. By the end of our stay we actually liked sitting out on the balcony.

If you stay on any of the first 10 floors, you can park on the level that your room is on. Being on the 19th floor(actually 18th since they skip the number 13) we picked a parking level we could remember and took the elevator up to the 19th. A good thing to do , because this hotel is very popular is to call ahead to book a floor you are comfortable with.

The hotel is in the downtown area so you can walk out the door and visit restaurants, cafes, gift stores, tourist attractions and the famous Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. All are a short walk. It is fabulous at night with all the tourists seeming to enjoy what this area has to offer, including huge ferris wheel, bungee jumping etc. Lots to do.

Camelot By The Sea is a very nice place to stay, but try to not be near the elevator as it can be noisy. Away from the elevator is a lot quieter. Another visitor told us to not stay on the first few stores because they are too close to the pools, lazy river etc which can be pretty noisy. We enjoyed our stay.
