“Decent Room at a Decent Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2008

We stayed at the Caravelle during our trip to Myrtle beach. The hotel has gone through a lot of renovations, but it's still an old hotel. The renovations mainly seemed to include paint and redecorating.

The view is very nice.

There were LOTS of families with children staying here. They had planned daily activities for the kids.

The efficiency condo we stayed in had 1 bathroom, a full kitchen, 2 king beds and a pull out couch.

The kitchen is there, but don't plan to spend a lot of time cooking. The kitchen area is quite cramped and there's no counter space.

Wireless internet is available for a fee, but it is difficult reaching a viable IP address. We were unable to connect over half of the time. However, free wireless access is available downstairs in the coffee/martini bar.

This hotel would be best for a couple or a family of 3. We went with 2 teenage girls and were in need of more space... and another bathroom. :)

If you want to stay at Caravelle, you may consider renting through the VRBO website. You can rent from an owner for a much discounted price.

My friend's daughter left a bag in the room upon checkout.
Have called several times, no manager will call back
or speak on the phone. I guess they keep your belongings
for themselves. Never stay there again!

This is the second time my family of six stayed at this hotel, the first time was before the renovation and the experience the first and second time was the same. The front desk staff was friendly, the restaurant staff was outstanding and most accommodating, they chef went out of her way to make sure that the kids had what they desired at breakfast even when it wasn't available on the breakfast buffet. The minute we entered the restaurant, we were treated like celebrity, everyone knew who we were. Housekeeping was just amazing, we had the same housekeeper for the duration of our stay and she was just magnificient, she cleaned the room thoroughly each day. The entire trip was both gratifying and satisfying not only for myself but my entire family from shopping at Tanger to eating at Tony Romas at Broadway on the Beach to dinner at Dixie Stampede (they should have the recipe for that cornish hen...it was delicious). We will definitely be going back.

The only drawback is the elevator service, the wait was long but then again we were never in a hurry so we didn't mind that much but the kids got a bit ancy. Overall, we were satisfied and would recommend this hotel to our friends and family. The kids are still talking about how special they were treated by chef Judy and the crew at the restaurant.

This was my first trip to Myrtle Beach. My guy took me for a long weekend. I booked this room online and though he'd been to Myrtle Beach several times in the past he wasn't sure about this place. It's a little north of the main area (old pavillion area) so it's just out of walking distance. But we really lucked out. It was a very clean oceanfront efficiency. Flat screen tv, DVD player - not that we were around to watch it much. Full kitchen with all you need except food. We had plenty of privacy even with several families staying in rooms nearby. Nice for couples. Nightlife in area is good too! We would definitely stay there again.

My huspand and I went for a weekend stay for our wedding anniversary. When we arrived, we were not aware that hotel check-in was across the street. However, that was not a problem. Upon arrival, we were well please at the outer appearance of the hotel. We arrived at night so it was well lit and looked very nice. At check-in, we were greeted by a friendly representative that checked us in and as an added bonus, she gave us meal tickets which included free breakfast buffet for both days. She even gave us a hotel charge card were we could us at the gift shop and other places onsite. That was a plus!!! We requested a room on one of the higher floors in the tower so she gave us an oceanview suite on the top floor. When we arrived in the room, our mouths dropped! We were amazed at how gorgeous the room was. Flat screen tv, huge king bed, marble tops, everything was so lovely oh and the lamps were beautiful. We loved it from the beginning. We had a very nice view of the ocean from the top floor. We enjoyed our stay and the rooms so much, that we have decided to only stay at the Caravelle and to request that one particular room only.

We stayed here off season so it was much cheaper than peak, but it was very nice! The main buidling was much nicer than the towers but for the price, the towers were very nice and clean. The tower suites (which were only a few dollars more) had kitchenettes and were huge. The view wasn't totally oceanfront, it was more "oceanside". We stayed in the towers one night and realized that it wasn't too busy so we asked for an upgrade and they moved us to the main building. Now that was wonderful. Totally oceanfront, great balcony, huge room. The only downfall was that the bathroom was kinda small for three women and there wasn't another mirror in the room! Pools and jacuzzi's were wonderful, nice and clean. Hotel had a great 7th floor sunning area with hammocks. Great location also. It was a great place to stay! These pics are from the main building on our porch.

I just got back from a couple nights stay at the Caravelle . The rooms were awesome!! They have really done an excellent job with all there remodeling . The view across the beach line is immaculate. The service was also very good. The employees were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I can't wait to stay at this hotel again.
