“Use to love Capriz... but not now”
My family lives in Myrtle Beach and has been dining at Capriz since they opened. We always have enjoyed dining here... the service and food have always been wonderful. When we have guests from out of town visiting Capriz has always been one of our top picks to take our guests. Unfortunately, that has now changed. Last weekend we dined there and learned that in the past 2 months they had changed their menu. The service, as usual was wonderful, but unfortunately not the food. Some of the dishes that we have come to love such as the steak, sausage links, parmesan crusted pork, and chicken legs (which is basically the only item besides salad that my daughter eats) have been changed or totally removed from the menu. The "meat" items also used to be served on large skewers and my girls enjoyed seeing them brought to the table that way. They are now brought out in large pans to the table. They have also changed several items on their salad bar. They still serve steak, but the steak we had was VERY bland, and had no taste... and in no way resembled the "old" delicious steak we loved. They also replaced the parmesan pork with another pork, which my husband was not impressed with. My daughter who only eats the chicken legs basically ate lettuce that evening because they were completely taken off the menu.
When our waiter asked how our meal was, we had to be honest, and told him we were not impressed with the new changes to the menu. A manager also visited our table and we also told him we were not happy with the changes. He told us they were trying to become their "own" restaurant and "break away" from Rioz (their sister restaurant), but if we wanted the steaks on the skewers we could always go to Rioz. He was very apologetic and even authorized a discount that we could use at Rioz and offered us dessert on the house. We discussed it later that night and even looked at other reviews on Tripadvisor giving Capriz 5's... but if you look closely most of those 5's are from visitors coming to the area on vacation. And YES, if you are here on vacation and happened to eat there ONE time, and had never dined there prior to the menu change, then more than likely YES you would say you had a good meal... but if you look at several of the reviews from "locals" they agree that the new menu (food) is not as good as before.
Unfortunately, one of our favorite restaurants to dine at (and to bring guests to) is no more.
Unless Capriz goes back to their old menu.... we will be looking for other options to dine at and to bring our out of town guests. :0(

Thank you for visiting us at Capriz Italian Feast and thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your experience. We appreciate how often you have to come eat with us in the past and it was also great to hear your comments on the service in this recent visit, but it was unfortunate to hear your comments on the lack of exceptional Italian dishes we provided during your meal. We have made changes in our menu recently, in order to focus more on a 100% Italian style of cuisine, but there are no excuses for the lack of seasoning in the dishes you referenced. We do take the comments we receive from our guest very seriously, and we will be reviewing your comments closely with our entire staff and culinary team, in order to learn from these mistakes, while improving the future experiences of our guests. As a long time guest of ours, we can only hope you will be willing to give us another chance to serve you, as we know that we can provide you with an experience that exceeds all of your expectations. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon.
