“2nd stay met expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Anniversary trip- at check in we were told we should have mentioned it when we reserved and they would have "hooked us up" with a package. Later found the package comes with a price. Room was ok, clean, basic suite amentities for light cooking. Cutting back with only shampoo in bath. Ok as we bring what we need, just interesting to see how things are cut back. Bed was comfortable, rooms were well decorated. Enter into the bedroom and travel through to living room on ocean front. Not an issue for us. Great view from balcony. Pools are fine. Hot tub on ground floor was occupied by 2 couples for an entire afternoon into the evening. The only time someone left was to get more to drink. When this was addressed to the counter it was barely acknowledged with no action. Breakfast was not as good as the last time we stayed but not bad. Basic breakfast, changes a little daily so it does add some variety to breakfast if you stay several days. Elevators can be a wait, change directions while you are in them, and cause you to take the stairs. Parking garage is tight on the corners and is intimidating to some. We have paid more for far less in other locations.

Room Tip: Corner suites on south side provide view of old Myrtle Beach and appear larger with more light.

I have stayed here 8 times over the past 20 plus years and always had a great stay. To put it simply, the place is very run down. Rust, cracks, ripped carpeting, broken couch, door knobs falling off interior doors.
The hotel is in a great location, breakfast hits the spot, the price is great, the staff were wonderful and they cleaned as best they could. It just needs a remodel. By staying here numerous times before, we knew that the elevators were slow and the parking garage is a nightmare to negotiate.

Until major renovations are made to the interior we will stay somewhere else in Myrtle Beach.

This was my first trip to Myrtle (always visit Panama City beach) but we made a end of summer budget trip this weekend. Checked in on 9/6 and were supposed to check out 9/9 but we made arrangments to stay another night. My kids love it here. The lazy river is there favorite with the different types of floats! The free breakfast was a huge saver for our family of 5 and the staff have all then wonderful! I will say it could be cleaned a little better but there are no bugss or anything like that.we will be back soon!!

Stayed here over this past Labor Day weekend. It was also part of our sons birthday gift. The deposit was made well over a month in advance as a partial birthday gift from my sons grandmother's credit card, whom did not make the trip. At check in they would not honor the deposit unless we presented the EXACT SAME card. Nowhere does it state this policy anywhere on their website. The result was that we were incurred over $135 in unexpected vacation costs. Terrible, terrible elevators. kitchen cabinet doors falling off the hinges, no lighting in the bathroom and a safe that did not work. Stayed here numerous times in the past and this will be my very last and advise anyone considering the Monterey Bay to look elsewhere. In closing, management was made well aware of all this and done absolutely nothing for us.

We have stayed at this hotels many times in the last 15 years. Some with only my wife, some with friends and most with family. We have always felt safe and relaxed there. The price and amenities make for a great value. The hot breakfast is a good way to save time and feel relaxed not wasting precious vacation time to the beach or pools.
The staff is always friendly and accommodating.
The hotel has always upgraded throughout the years. For the class of hotel I cannot find a complaint. If you are looking for a 1000 foot lazy pool and multi complex resort with multiple restaurants and game rooms, you won't appreciate this gem.
Some people will nitpick just to find a reason to complain. But to feel close to home life away from home you can't go wrong here.

We usually stay her once or twice a year. This year we stayed for a long weekend end of August. We stayed in the ocean front end suite with the king bed. The room had a great view from the sixth floor. The room was clean and the a/c worked great. The balcony had a table and two chairs. The room included breakfast for the three of us. The breakfast added value to our stay and made it easy to leave breakfast and go straight to the beach. My daughter is 6 and loved the lazy river, pool and the playground between the pool and beach. The value is hard to beat. We love it here and have planned to return in 2014.

Nice location if you want to stay away from all the noise and action. Parking is terrible if you don't have a mini cooper. If you go out around dinner time just know its gonna be a task finding a decent spot. Pools where nice. Free breakfeast was a joke. Room was a decent size just the mold and mildew smell made it unpleasant. Elevators are slow. Good for the price but would pay more money for a better room.
