I hesitated as I made my hotel arrangements online, but I read the traveler reviews and felt a little better about my decision. We arrived at the hotel and the outside looks much better than the inside. The only thing we liked about it was that we were on the ground floor. Everytime we opened a drawer a cockroach crawled out of it, so we kept our belongings in our suitcase. The pest control company showed up on Monday which is an indication that someone probably complained of that situation because we had only been there overnight at this time. The mattress on our bed was like sleeping on concrete. My husband and I are both pretty tall people 5' 10" and the shower head was about 5' from the floor, so we did backbends to wash our hair. My son took his playstation to play at night and watch movies on, but the televisions didn't accomodate the hookup. The daytime office employee was very rude, but the night shift person was a little better. I have never been so miserable at a hotel, and if for not being at the beach - our trip would have been awful. I thought the office would be a little more apologetic about the bug situation, but I was told that they have had that problem since the hotel next to them was being remodeled and to have a nice trip home. My advice to someone who is checking in to stay at this particular hotel is to go with your gut feeling and pay more to be satisfied with what your getting!!! I have never in all my 35 years ever stayed at a hotel where I saw a bug everyday, and not just one but several!!!

We stayed in a Ocean Front room from Sunday 7-2 till 7-6. The kids loved the pool! We arrived late Sunday. The housekeeping did not do anything to our rooms except make beds and left towels. On Tuesday we finally had to tell the desk clerk our trash needs to be picked up and no towels had been left nor did our bathrooms get cleaned. You know if you've been to the beach with kids, even if you wash off before you enter the room you still have sand that comes off in the bathroom when you take off swim suits. The housekeeper did not clean that up. The desk clerk was very friendly and came to take care of us. On Wednesday we had the same thing happen again. This would not be a motel which I would pick to stay again.

I went to the Viking during Bike Week/Memorial Day weekend. It was HoRRIBLE!!!!! I felt like I was in the hood and that hotel was the neighborhood projects. The elevator had no light, the stairs were horrible, the room was dingy. . . . roomy but dingy. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I visited friends at the Breakers hotel on the North side of the strip any the atmosphere was completely different. Modern, clean, and nice. No matter how great the deal sounds, do yourself a favor and do not stay at the Viking.

I came to the Viking fully prepared to hate it based on two extremely negative reviews on your site - alleging the place to be filthy. We had booked the motel prior to reading those reviews. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is very old. But it was quite clean and the cleaning staff were helpful and more than happy to provide extra towels, etc. The desk staff was helpful and courteous, even looking up an address and providing directions. The pool was extremely clean and maintained constantly. From the level of maintenance, it is extremely doubtful there was feces in the pool area as alleged by one writer. After staying at the Viking (I would stay there again with no problem), and seeing the actuality rather than the negative comments, I began to wonder whether the two negative posters were actually competitors rather than really guests.
