i'm sad to say the pot heads and smokers dont care one bit that this place is a smoke free resort. my wife and i & the kids stayed last year mothers day week and the smell of pot and cigarettes stank up our room/balcony to the point we could not sit and injoy are view from the balcony, we had to keep our door closed most of the time, the previous years stay was the best *this was before the bike week thing joined the week we stay* now they jacked the rate up $20+ per night in one days time as we were just looking at rates this 2nd week in jan, last year we booked in march and no rate change due to bike week??? i called the front desk after thinking we would just deal with the rule breakers and reserve our room for the week, the rep said that the rates are now higher due to it being closer to bike week and the smoking is what you get with the bikers ??? oh really so why did the rates stay the same last year as late as march??? what a joke if you ask me, we as a family that follow the rules have to pay higher rates at a so called family resort and suffer all the noise,rule breaking pot smokers/cigarette smokers, the lack of parking with all the bike trailers taklng up the better parking places and loust wi-fi. dont bother complaining to management about the smoking they dont care but they make you think they do SMH this was a great place to stay mothers day and the whole week after, that was before the biker bunch came back or it was in our case. the value was the best on the beach front but it looks like our MB days are over at sandy beach resort, now we are trying to find a new place far away from MB and the biker bunch ) : oh btw we checked out other places and the rates have not gone up as of yet, just saying.

This is our 3rd year staying here and just love it. We stay in the newer part of the hotel but you cannot beat the price for what you get. The folks at the front desk were very helpful this year only wish the weather was a little warmer but still had a great vacation.

Our rooms were very dirty.
The bath tub looked like it had not been cleaned in a month.
Bring your own coffee, otherwise you will have to walk down to the 2nd floor for a cup.
The wi-fi did not work well...patchy at best.
No chairs on the balcony, and if you have a smoker...they are not allowed to smoke on it, you will be fined if you do.
My son was upset (I wasn't) his video game could not plug into the TV. The kid at the counter suggested we buy an adapter for $30 at a near-by store.
The maid treated me like a criminal when I asked for fresh sheets for the sofa bed. The ones already on it were filthy. We left after a few days without our "creature comforts" and stayed elsewhere.

On our first visit to Sandy Beach resort in the spring of 2012 i had no negatives except for not getting a 4rth chair for the balcony. Well we decided to go back for the christmas holidays and rented the same 3 bedroom condo palmetto side only this one was two floors up. Upon entering the room it was the exact same as before very nice, very clean well stocked all was good till we looked on the balcony again just 3 chairs.... This time when we appraoched the front desk they said they would see what they could do, lo and behold within an hour we had our fourth chair..Why we could not have this in the spring ,i dont know but the Sandy Beach resort redeemed herself and will now see us return again..
