Owner description: Carolina Improv Company is located INSIDE the Myrtle Beach Mall at the Uptown Theater with seating for approximately 75 people. It's a very intimate (and small) space and serves beer, wine and soda. Yes, it's a little unconventional but that's what makes it fun (and cheaper than other shows). Our seats are transportable cushioned chairs and sometimes we have to pull out folding chairs when people are begging to see us. The fire marshall lets us have up to 110 people in the space. Since the mall does not provide outdoor signage it could be tricky to find us. The mall anchor is Bass Pro Shop and Uptown is on that end of the mall. For the quickest path to the theater, guests should park at the back of the mall between Bass Pro Shop and Carmike Cinema. Hungry? There are several restaurants at the mall where you can eat before visiting us.

“A lot of fun in a dying mall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

I was a little put off when I realized this place was actually in an old storefront in a mall that was dying. But, we had a good time at "Whose beach is it anyways?" This was their family friendly show, and despite some attempts by some of the audience members to steer it in a more adult direction, the crew kept it family friendly. Some comics were better than others, but for the price, we had a good time. My 13 year old daughter enjoyed it.

“Great experience, funnier than most major city improvs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

I've been to 2nd City in Chicago and many of the improv theaters in NYC and was pleasantly surprised that The Carolina Improv was way funnier than most of those previous experiences in the famous big city theaters. I think the games they chose to play is what makes this one standout even more than those other well known theaters. The actors play to their strengths and keep it moving along. Yes, the Carolina Improv is in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. There is a very genuine cultural experience to be had. The ticket price is very fair, the booze selection is decent and cheap, plus their A/C system can cool you down on any hot summer night. Go with an open mind and have a few laughs.

Thank you for your great comments. We really appreciate it, especially since you've seen shows in Chicago and New York! Hope to make you laugh again! Happy you liked the AC too. We had 1 night without it and ever since then we keep it like a meat locker - bring a sweater if you're coming to a show!

“A Laugh to Remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Enjoyed our evening out at Carolina Improv- A small room that was large with laughter- a setting that encouraged audience members to literally become part of the show and acquainted with each other. Can only imagine how funny the not so family friendly show would be. Thank you - we will be back !

“not funny”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Reasonable price and nice people but the show was not funny. They really seamed to struggle to say something funny. We had a group of 10 and all felt the same. The bathroom is out in the mall.

“Don't miss it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I attended the Friday show and found it to be absolutely charming. The hostess and actors were very real and engaging. It felt like a night out with friends. Just so welcoming in every way. And funny! I don't know that people are appreciating the difficulty of improv. Seriously! Please give them a try... You cannot go wrong for $25!!
