I have parties for my group 4 times a year and this was a poor hotel and wouldn't have it again. Usually I have around 25 and up rooms. I usually always get my room for free with the rooms I booked and the hotel wouldn't think of it...My people had broken doors and broken ceilings. We had no internet service which is what we all needed. Some people had their floor wet and all the hotel did was put a fan in it instead of just giving them a better room. I have never been in a hotel that did not have sample coffee. Good think we did bring our own. I will never have another gathering there.....

Pass on the Paradise - stay at the North Tower

Don't go to the Breakers Hotel PARADISE tower, go to the NORTH Tower. Unless of course you like super warm, dirty pools (so NOT refreshing when you need it down there in the humidity!) or a fitness center that is un-air conditioned and has NO equipment. Not even mats for stretching!

More bad stuff about the Paradise -- The elevators take forever. We were on the 20th floor - our room was was run-down and needed updating in a bad way. The view was OK. However, we were so dissatisfied with the Paradise's pool and gym that we asked to move six blocks down the street, to the renovated tower, the NORTH Tower, which we had read online was far superior. Which it was. It's like night and day.

Debra at the front desk at the North Tower was so kind to us -- she put us in a great condo-style unit on the 14th floor. The North tower has a COLD pool and a much better fitness center. We were thrilled with our hotel room -- it was big, had all new, modern-style furnishings a la Pottery Barn, bright colored walls, a great little kitchen fully equipped with everything as well as a dishwasher, and we had a washer/dryer in the unit! We had a separate bedroom with a wonderful king size bed. What a difference between the two towers.

We spent my 30th bday down there and we had a good time. If we had not switched from the Paradise to the North Tower, I would not be able to say that!

This was our third visit to Myrtle Beach in the past 4 years. Love it, so much to do, yet, relaxing. Regarding Breakers - THIS stay wasn't as good as our previous stay here. We did the family value package, can't beat the price! However, the last time, we upgraded to a 2 room ocean front effeciency suite, which was spectacular! Clean, roomy, perfect. This time, since we were only bringing 2 of our 3 children (oldest turned 18, graduated from high school and decided it would be more fun to stay home alone then to join family on vacation) anyway, we passed on the upgrade and got the basic court side motel room. This was in the south tower, our previous stay was in the resort hotel. When we arrived at our floor and got off the elevator, I thought "oh no" - the doors to all of the rooms had been stripped and were ready to be painted and it just looked awful - didnt see anyone p ainting during the entire week though, funny. The room was average size, BUT it was soooo cold, the a/c was set for 54 and there was no changing it, and it ran all the time. The bathroom door stuck, you had to SLAM it to get it to close, which was a pain when one of the teenage girls would go to the bathroom during the night. The spigot in the tub ran constantly and the walls were paper thin. I kept telling myself it was my fault for not upgrading. The pool area is nice, the water was so warm, it would've been nice if they would have thrown blocks of ice in it or something. Always so crowded, guests have to wear bracelets, but since its not enforced, it doesnt really matter. Although, my daughter made friends with some other teens from the hotel and they didnt have their bands on one day and a worker did stop them and tell them to get them on or get out. They've added a few outdoor bathrooms which is really nice and the new outdoor bar was nice too. The room was clean, the bedding was clean, the maid did a very nice job, she was a wonderful lady who I really liked. Had the room been dirty, I dont think I would go back, but it wasn't. The view from the balcony was ok, you had a view of the beach/ocean and street. Great location. I guess my advice would be to do the upgrade, it is definately worth the money. I would stay here again, but I would definately upgrade!

I don't understand all the negative reviews this place is receiving. I rented a 3 bedroom oceanfront condo, directly thru an owner, in the new Paradise Tower. I guess the other buildings at the Breakers may need some work??? But the Paradise Tower is great. We stayed on the 20th floor with a great view of the beach. The condo was in great. The pools were great for my two small children, ages 4 and 2. Also the beach area was great...The poolside bar was good for an afternoon snack and some drinks. We had a great time at the Breakers and will be returning in the future.
P.S. Bummz next door to the Paradise Tower is a great place for a casual lunch or dinner oceanfront.

Just wanted to let everyone know my family had the best time. The rooms were wonderful, the staff was just great No complaints from us. My teenagers were so impressed. They had so much fun. We felt safe letting them roam around by themselves. Everything was so clean. Never had not one problem. we plan on going back next summer and spend a whole week. And Mayber bike week too. Thx to all the staff for making our vacation a happy one.
