“Love the location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2009

Major contrasts. Great beds, terrible plumbing. Had to fix the toilet 3 times in 3 days and the shower constantly dripped. The A/C noise drowned out the toilet and shower drip noises mostly. No TV remote, hair dryer, or coffee pot, but nice clean soft towels, a microwave and 'frig that worked. Somewhat surly night desk clerk, but the morning guy was as friendly and helpful as he could be. The hot tub is in a dungeon adjacent to the garage (ugh), but there's a heated 12"-deep kiddy pool next to the big swimming pool. Couldn't connect to the WiFi. It's OK for the price and its right on the beach!

It was a cheap place to get a good night's sleep right next to the beach in the middle of Myrtle Beach.

The pretty little spa they show in the photos is actually located directly inside the door from the garage - and there are no doors. It was dirty and had trash strewn about the area. The staff were rude and very unprofessional, lazy and unhelpful. We got the wrong room keys first, then had to go back and get new ones only for the girl to act like it was our fault.

Once in our room, we noticed that the curtains don't close all the way - people walking up from the street can peek in the open crack and see the entire room reflected in the mirror! There were TONS of very loud noises in the early mornings, people banging things around and etc. There was a screw poking through the headboard of the bed, sharp point out, that I repeatedly scratched myself on. There was mold growing on the bathroom walls, and no available outlets for our laptops or phone chargers. There weren't even enough outlets for the lights and appliances they have in the room, we had to unplug the tv to use the microwave and then the tv stopped working.

The linens were dirty and smelled HORRIBLE. There were what appeared to be small bugs in them, as well as sand and other dirt. The pillows were practically nonexistent and even without cases they smelled disgusting. When I called the front desk to ask for replacement linens, I was informed that housekeeping didn't bother to do the laundry that day and there were no available clean linens in the entire hotel. I was told there were no other rooms we could switch to and they would not refund us if we chose to leave to find someplace else. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any other place with availability at the last second - it's high season there in the summer, so we had to stay.

The door didn't quite close all the way and there was a lot of light that came through both the top and the bottom of the door. The telephone had obviously been smashed at some point, though after a few attempts we were able to call the front desk.

The driveway they make you go down in order to park in their underground parking area is incredibly steep and rough. We were driving a scion xB and it knocked our bumper loose and scratched it up, even though we went at a snail's pace and were as careful as humanly possible.

After our stay, I immediately wrote to the corporate office to complain. I was referred back to the hotel, and had to deal with their unprofessional and rude staff again. For weeks, I would call during the hours they requested only to be told that the guy wasn't available. Then he would call and leave voicemails for me with no information regarding what he needed from me in order to put through our refund. It took over a MONTH of non stop calling, three calls to corporate, and a threat to call the better business bureau as well as the local health inspection offices before the guy finally put the refund through, though we're still waiting for it to post to the credit card.

Do NOT stay here. I did EXTENSIVE research before our trip and settled on this place because $100 a night seemed decent enough and it had ok reviews, and we trusted the Choice Hotels brand. Don't fall for it. You can spend the same and stay at any number of other places that would have to work really hard to be as horrific as this place. It was a total dump with absolute jerks working there, don't even waste your time or money!

This place was great parking was good since I had a sports utitlity vehicle I parked in the front parking lot every night, also had a ocean front suite, this was nice to take pictures and enjoy the view, the pool was very easy to get to just down the stairs and around the building, also the same for the hot tub just down the stairs and down another hall, didn't eat the breakfast but seen plenty of people that seem to be enjoying it, also lobby has plenty of brochures to pick up so you can read these in your room, also room that we had was 2 Queen Beds and a Sofabed, nice big fridge for keeping things cold, bathroom in room was great just the right size for people to go in and change clothes, after changing clothes come back out into room so someone else can go into bathroom to change clothes, sink area was outside bathroom which was also convenient while other people would happen to be in bathroom changing clothes, beach was also very easy to get to from pool area, also outside showers were located near pool to wash off sand before heading back to the room, don't believe all the reviews about this hotel, it is just that some people go to enjoy the room more than the beach, mostly what we used the room for was to sleep, shower, change clothes to be on out way to having fun during a weekend vacation.

This place was much more decent that what I'd been led to believe. I booked it BEFORE reading all the reviews on here and was feeling nervous about bringing my girlfriend there. Baloney. The place was just fine. Rooms were VERY clean, roomy and everything. Pool was pretty nice and warm although full of kids. The beach is RIGHT THERE anyway and that's what you're there for, right? Breakfast was OK. Price looked a bit more expensive compared to other places though, once we were there. Depending on when you plan on visiting (off-season), you should use the other hotel's walk-in prices (30-40 instead of this one's 50).

We stayed one night at Econo Lodge b/c we came into town a day early. Check in was a breeze, and staff was friendly. We had a ocean view room, that was very clean!!!! For $50ish for the night it was not a bad deal. The pool was clean, hot tub was the hottest and clean, except it is located next to the parking deck. Overall it is a great hotel for the money!!!! Check out was great and the guy that checked us out was super nice, and was a great help with directions!!!

Our stay was decent, we did not spend alot of time in the hotel room. I would have to say people who are picky and into staying in instead of enjoying the beach should not stay here. We stayed in a suite with oceanview, it was an amazing view. We slept on top of the blankets, I know what hotels are used for mainly, we decided we would carry our sons pack and play with us which was a great decision. We sat on the balcony for hours. Like I have said before, definatly not for picky people but definatly NOT a night of terror. Please contact me if you have any questions I am more than willing to help anyone!
