We were regulars here many years ago. In fact, way back in the early to mid 1970s we used to tent camp here. My wife and I RV'ed here in the late 1980-early 1990s. Then we got out of the camping thing for a while. This is our second fall here in the modern era. We tend to like Lakewood. The truth is that most of the campgrounds in Myrtle Beach area are just fine.
In our experience the average camper at Lakewood is a friendly person. That's why we like it. To say that one of the big Myrtle Beach campgrounds is radically different from another one is to split hairs.
Lakewood has the "Big Red Trailer" which serves food. It's decent food so, if you just wanna come camp and do very little that might make it easier. Plus, they have the fish fry three nights a week and the fish is great. The Wifi can be quite slow if the campground is full. But, that's not uncommon at campgrounds.
Overall it's a good campground.
