“You get what you pay for...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

I had been wanting to go to MB,SC for awhile. A friend that is in the time share community was generous enough to offer us some time at a reduced price at one of the resorts on their list. We chose SeaGlass, because 1) it was on the beach, 2) it was near the boardwalk activities, and 3) the reviews I read seemed favorable. First these one bedroom units are for little people!!! My husband is taller than most, and I am a little rounder in the middle. It was very hard to get to the bedside bureau to put our clothes away. There was a fire scare, on the 8th floor. My husband had gone for a walk while I fixed dinner. He called the room and said the hotel was on fire and Fire trucks were there. I had heard nothing and was on the 11th. He was told by attendant at counter, Fire alarm only goes up to the 4th floor, although it was a false alarm, what if it had been a real fire??? I have COPD, and it would have been extremely difficult and stressful to have to have climbed down 11 flights of stairs. We did not find out about complimentary coffee room on 2nd floor until the morning we left. Our coffee maker's timer was not working nor the radio/alarm clock. Also there was no Fire extinguisher in the hallway holder for one.

Room Tip: Ask for Ocean Front...and not over the 4th floor, in case of fire!!!!!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We stayed week of Sept 8.

We were on 9th floor overlooking the ocean. We had a corner unit - the main living area had floor to ceiling windows giving a view of the entire beach and the Skywheel ferris wheel down the beach. Our bedroom also had floor to ceiling windows. The windows have a special coating on them so no one can see in - but there are blinds you can close if the sun starts heating up your unit. We left the blinds up as much as possible. Very restuful to watch the ocean from your bed.

Because of the windows, the one-bedroom unit seemed much more spacious than it actuall was. It was great for the two of us but would really be cramped for any more than that.

There was also a small outdoor balcony (couple of chairs) overlooking the ocean.

Only 2 elevators so there could be a wait - especially when people are arriving or departing with full luggage carts. However, this resort had a least fifteen carts so you were able to get unloaded and to your unit relatively quickly.

Staff was very attentive - arrived within 5 minutes both times we called - once with a small plumbing issue and once to explain to me how the electric outlets worked (from a switch by the entrance).

Gave you a card to hang on your door if you need trash picked up and/or wished to exchange towels. You just left them inside your front door and the trash would be emptied and the towels replaced automatically. This was really nice since you went through a bunch of towels. Extral large towels were supplied in a tote bag to take to the beach/pool.

Gas grills were available - we grilled steaks one night - didn't seem to be much demand for them the night we used them.

No washer/dryers in unit - they had a few that you could use down by the indoor pool.

We didn't experience the noise problems that some others have mentioned.

The lobby didn't seem to fit with the resort - kind of old school and could use a good rennovation.

Did have one incident that caused a lot of damage and delays when vandals pulled the fire alarm and discharged a couple of fire extinquishers making a real mess. Took a couple hours before fire department would let us back in. Our friends had just purchased some fresh seafood but the resort was able to regrigerate it for us until we were able to get back in to our unit.

Room Tip: Try to get ocean side and as high up as possible (building has 20 floors).

When we planned our trip to Myrtle Beach, we had no idea what a "non quiet" place this was. Our room was an upscale low budget quality room, with great bed and shower/bathroom was very nice. We could hear deafening noises from the oh so busy beach blvd til 1am every night. Our friends were oceanfront and almost to top, and could also hear the street noise til then. Our room was ocean view, and we were on the 14th floor, and did have a nice sliver of view from our little balcony. the south side of room was entirely glass. At night we had a full view of all the ferris wheels, bungie rides, and all the other lit up rides on Beach Blvd. The screams on cue every 15 minutes, the cars reving their engines. The elevators are slowwwww, and when 1 was broken down for several hours, there was a definite back up. Staff is all very nice, the salespeople a bit pushy, and the lobby is small and outdated. The property is on the beach, and right at one of the wharfs. The best part is the lifeguards, just steps away from hotel, setting up umbrellas and chairs you can rent for the day or week. They are ready at 9am and they take down at 5pm. We loved this because for one reason you can not hear or see any of the street noise, just the beautiful ocean. Myrtle Beach, from this location, was like Vegas meets Pigeon Forge meets Branson.... We absolutley loved the morning walks and the beautiful beach, But we would never ever return to this hotel location. Its perfect for families with kids who need lots of attractions in the evening and like to walk alot.

Room Tip: lower rooms have zero views because of the close buildings on either side. Ocean front is the best w...

My fiancé and I stayed here through my parent's timeshare. The staff was very friendly. There are 2 elevators for this tall building that a little slow, but never had to wait too crazy long. We stayed on the 12th floor. We didn't see too much of the beach because of the building next to us in the way but the view in the mornings of the ocean were beautiful. If I could give the balcony it's own scale rating it would be a 1 out of 5. Very very very small and the chairs were dirty and those cheap plastic white ones. The room was clean, but outdated, especially the bathroom. The tub/shower was nice because it was a jacuzzi tub so the shower felt huge. The hallways kind of smelled a bit too. The pool and hot tub are waaay smaller than the Birdseye view picture shows and it feels like you are swimming in the lobby. Everyone can watch you. We didn't swim in it for these reasons. The outdoor pools are owned by a different hotel that appears run down. You literally feel like you are trespassing into another hotel's pool, but they say it is a shared pool. The Mexican restaurant Banditos was very good and reasonably priced. There was a good Jamaican styled band playing outside while we were there for just some chips, salsa, and margs.

This hotel is renovating soon, so I will be excited to see how it looks afterward.

Oh and if you are on the bottom floors and have the lights on, you can see everything you are doing from the outside if your blinds are open.

We liked the Sea Glass Tower and thought that it was a nice place to stay. the rooms were clean and the amenities were good. We stayed for a week and liked the area and the weather was beautiful. This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach and we will return as it was a nice place to visit especially to get away from the winter and the cold.

We have stayed at SeaGlass Tower twice, first time about 3 years ago and just this past July. The first time was on the 19th floor oceanfront and just recently on the 15th floor oceanview. The oceanfront room was nice and enough room for two adults and two small children, at that time 5 and 3 years old. The last time, we had a regular one bedroom unit and with children now 9 and 6, seemed a whole lot more cramped. The bedroom was extremely tight with very little room to actually put away clothes for the week. It was workable for our stay, but in reality, if you are traveling here with two adults and two kids, it will be very cozy for the stay.

As others have mentioned, the floor to ceiling windows are very nice and we had a few of the Skywheel from our room. All the appliances were updated and we had two flat panel TV's. The bath room was large enough to accommodate the four of us with no issues.

Check-in and check-out were extremely efficient, check-in took less than 3 minutes and check-out even faster. However, the same can't be said for the elevators!!! Multiple times during our stay, one elevator wasn't working. After waiting over 10 minutes to take one from the 15th floor, we just decided to take the stairs as did some other people during the stay. They are also impossible to catch if you are trying to check-in/out during those times. You should probably plan on an hour just to get an elevator during those times.

Parking is a block away, just behind the Olympic Flame restaurant, but nothing I would complain about. There were always spaces available and was a short walk. There is short-term parking right by the resort to accommodate loading/unloading, which was very convenient.

All in all, this is a very nice resort. Personally, the elevators are the worst part of it.

We always love staying here, it's a very nice place! The view is absolutely stunning and I love that the walls are glass, so that you can have that magnificent beach view. We love the fact that there are two elevators so that you're not stuck waiting on one for hours. The staff was very friendly and helped us find fun things to do, they gave us lots of coupons and advice on where to go. I will continue to stay here every summer!

Room Tip: Definitely choose a beach view, you won't regret it!!
