“pleasant- great for kids!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

I'll admit, I was worried after I read the reviews. We were booked a 3 bedroom condo for 4 nights but the week before my schedule cleared and we thought we would go a day early. Called reservations twice to add a day but it was going to cost a huge amount to add a day- don't understand why since it was before rates went up and they had vacancy plus it was a weekday. We did not go early since the rate was gong to be nearly double our other night rates. We were able to check in a little early and avoid the crowd. The place is older and the rooms were dated but it was clean. Housekeeping had a habbit of taking our used towels everyday but not replacing them with fresh ones. Either leave the used towels or fresh ones- 2 towels for 7 people does not work!
The grounds and pools were great. Kids loved water park. Our package gave us the breakfast buffet everyday which was wonderful-especially the omlets! We also got a dolphin cruise and passes to Wild Water and Wheels. It was all fun!
I was very pleased. It is a true family resort and very quiet at night. Overall we were all very happy and had a great time!!

We stayed here back in JULY/ AUGUST 2009, never did a review on it, but my kids remember the waterpark and the slides and the lazy river very well. If your just looking to get away for 2 or 3 days with the family, with little kids , I'd say it's as much fun as Dunes Village and/or Sea Mist that also have alot to offer for little kids, for the money we spent back then I didn't think it was all that bad. Each year we try somewhere different, and are contemplating on heading back to this one before School starts back for the little ones.

check in took an hour and a half. nice view of the beach. pools were ok when they weren't closed for repairs or whatnot. staff is COMPLETELY clueless and not helpful at ALL and RUDE!!! they did construction work on our balcony while my two small children were trying to take a nap and didn't clean up the mess.. called to speak to manager and NEVER got a call back. finally went to managers office and complained. they moved us to a bigger suite which was great! we were happy. BUT, my two SMALL children found SEX TOYS under the pull out couch!!! took them back to manager he said he would "get back with us tomorrow" that didn't happen. so, there was another RUDE lady manager there and i talked to her she said she never heard anything about it!! are you kidding me?? we got back home today.. and still haven't heard anything about it!! DO NOT STAY HERE!! STAFF IS RUDE!! AND IT'S UNSANITARY!!! stayed at several places.. this is the WORST!!!!

Room Tip: just don't bother staying here.

For the price and location you really can't beat the Sand Dunes. Anyplace that is this quiet during Senior Week takes being away from the crowd seriously. The add ons of the extra waterpark and cruise make it exceptional for the $. The only issue we had was when we asked for an extra pillow. They couldn't seem to comprehend that someone might need an extra pillow outside the hours of 8-5. As long as you don't need anything after 5- its a great place.

I don't understand some of the reviews. We had a fabulous time here. The pools and people were great. Very relaxing. I had not been to the Golden Mile area of Myrtle Beach before. No worries with safety. The beach was gorgeous and the beachfront view was spectacular. We had a 10th floor corner beach front with the extra large balcony on the corner.. You can see for miles in both directions. The interior colors and lively atmosphere reminded me of Disney World although the lobby appears out of sink with the interior restaurants etc. Great time for any age!

Room Tip: Beachfront north corner units are best. They have a larger /longer balcony. We were on the 10th fl...

My husband and I normally stay at their sister hotel, ocean dunes, but they were booked this time so we decided to try out this one out. It was great considering it was memorial day, the room was about $130.00 for the night. It was ocean front and had a great view. The hotel was super clean and the room included a small stove, pots and pans, glasses, dishes, a microwave, refridgerator, and kitchen sink. There is also an attached water park for the hotel that is great for kids. The pool area was great. There were 2 kiddie pools and also a lazy river. We really enjoyed our stay and will def return.

Room Tip: Book ahead of time.

Room was not the best it had a kitchenette the couch was dirty in the living room , the bathroom every time you turned on the light and fan it made and loud noise. The best part about it was the outside waterpark and pools .. The staff was nice. . Also know that you have to park across the street in the parking lot so unload your baggage when you first get there. Hotel needs alot of updating.
