“Needs cleaning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2010

Spent 5 nights here on vacation. We were put in phase 1. Definitely not a 5 star, maybe a 3. Floors were filthy, we had to wear our shoes if you didnt want black feet and socks. Major cobwebs around the furniture. First night killed a huge spider in the bathroom. Crack under the main door which can allow for outside creatures to enter, since entryway to your room is open to the outside. geckos and spiders aren't bad, but I was worried about snakes. The pools were great, kids loved them. Nice playground, and nice service staff. Located directly beside is a huge hospital, which was nice to know especially when you have kids. Free passes to Hunighton state park, even though it was three miles away- which we were told it was in walking distance when we booked, was great. Very nice beach and educational center for kids. Seen alligators every trip to the beach. All and all it was a good value, but phase 1 needs some updates and major cleaning before they put families in their condos.

My family and I were blown away by the beauty of the resort. We were in a phase two condo and it was heavenly, nice flat screens, screened porch, beautiful bathrooms and kitchen. We loved it.....until the roaches came out, one by one, by one!!!!!!!!!!!! It was awful and they were huge and I mean huge. We are not used to roaches and refused to stay!!!! Roaches carry all kinds of diseases and they were all on the bed and climbing on the curtains. In less than 6 minutes my dad had killed three huge and I mean huge roaches, we were scared to death!!!!! We packed up our stuff and left the same night. As we were leaving roaches were crawling all outside!!!! So if you like to live with roaches its the perfect place, but if not stay away!!!!!

Why are people giving this place bad reviews? I sayed in Phase 2 (the newer phase.) It was beautiful. We had a two bedroom even though it was only my husband and myself. Spacious, 3 televisions, 3 bathrooms...great screened balcony. Completely furnished kitchen. There was everything to make a 4 course dinner and my husband is a chef. Super bed with soft linens. Decorated pretty too, all greens & blacks...very southern. Great golf course too. I totally recommend this place.

Traded our time share unit for one here and it was great. Nice, clean, yeah I guess the floors could have been mopped a little better, but everything else was very nice. Fairly new furnishings, cold A/C. Noise from upstairs was the the only complaint. We stayed on first floor and someone had a little tyke doing laps around the apartment upstairs. Not the resorts fault, but faulty parenting. : ) Small pool, hey we were there for the beach. Charcoal grills for guest use, nice little screened porch. Nice staff. Parking can be a little scarce when full, but there is an overflow lot. Huntington State Park Beaches were nice and close + a free pass for the week. Enjoyed the Hammock Shops, Pawleys Island Beach was a nice change also. Marsh Walk Restaurants and night life is a must and very close to the resort. Also check out the Lazy Gator Shop.
This place is away from Myrtle Beach and quiet, very little traffic. Just what I like.
Tip: Good and inexpensive breakfast at Prossers BBQ. Try the buffet for lunch or dinner, good home cooking. No frills. Check the hours as they are not open all day everyday.
Lunch at Creek Ratz, try a Poboy. Most of the restaurants were a little over priced with just so-so food. Broadway at the beach is thier boardwalk and not really at the beach. But real cool. Crowded restaurants. Already booked a week for this year. Can't wait to go back.

I was a little hesitant to book my vacation at Ellington after reading the reviews, but to our surprise it was just the opposite. We had a two-bedroom unit on the second floor and it was comfortable and spacious. The unit had a TV in each bedroom and one in the living room. We had a kitchen and washer/dryer, which we used a lot. It was clean and very nice. We used the pool often and the kids loved it. There is also a small playground which they enjoyed. It’s in a quiet area, but relaxing and peaceful. Lots of good restaurants nearby. They give you a free pass to Huntington Beach State Park. It is a beautiful beach and it’s only about 3-miles away from the resort.

The charges for internet access was ridiculously high. Didn't use my laptop at all.

We had a great stay and would return to this resort again.

The floors were filthy. I made the mistake of walking around our rooms the first day without shoes and the bottoms of my feet were black within 10 minutes. Yes they have a "fitness center" but the elliptical and treadmill were both out of order for our entire weeks stay. There was a broken glass top table thrown in the poolside bushes - much easier to just try to hide it than clean it up. The bathroom towel rack was loose and pulled out of the wall on day 2 of our stay. The staff did however have it repaired the same day we called. Be prepared to pay $50 for one week internet access if you need it. My only regret is I didn't take pictures to post here.
