“Ellington Revisited”

A great place for golf and only a mile or so from the beach, as festiva adventure club members we visit here almost every year. We like the laid back feel of the Garden City/South Myrtle area and the quality of this condo style facility. Site has 11 individual buildings ranging 2 to 4 stories, indoor and outdoor pools, a smashing golf course, and a range of weekly activities for all visitants.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Ellington. It was an exceptionally clean, well looked after, peaceful resort. Ideal for famillies.Pity their water park was closed whilst we were there but they have a fabulous indoor heated pool if its too cold for the outdoor ones. Some attractions close by if you need them.
Exellent restaurant nearby SWC on main road.

This was my first Festiva activity and first time at Wachesaw Plantation. I did not know what to expect but was pleased with all aspects of this trip. The staff were pleasant and attended to business in an excellent manner. I found the accommodations to be delightful. Golfing was great except for my scores. I would recommend Wachesaw Plantation highly.

This is our second vacation at Ellington with Festiva Adventure Club. It was even more delightful than the first. The grounds are lovely, the people friendly and there is such a large variety of things to do in the area. The indoor pool is a plus, as is the screened porch on the units in Phase 1. I'm a birder and gardener and it doesn't get any better than Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington Beach State park during migration season. The resort provides a pass into the state park for the week and a discount program with many shops in the area and activities in Georgetown. My husband was pleased to note that the internet access in our unit had been improved since our last visit. We look forward to our next visit here.

Room Tip: Phase 1 rooms have screened porches. One bedrooms are small, with little space to store groceries...

This is the most wonderful place to escape from all the noise and tension in life . When I wanted to go to the noise or shows Mytle Beach was just 20 min away and when we wanted to see nature you could visit Greenbrook plantation, the beach or just stay at the resort and enjoy the pool and hot spas. There is also golfing and walking trails if we wanted to really relax an stay away hidden from all adventure. The accomadations was three rooms which had every thing independent adults needs to have an enjoyable stay the decor was great not threating and the view of the golf course, pools and spas and parking made you feel like you designed it especially for us. The housekeeping staff and all the staff was always friendly and very helpful and could not do enough to make us wonder why we had not visited this resort earlier. Try this resort with an open min seeking rest and you will be shopping, golfing and sightseeing Charleston in no time even though you thought you wanted to rest from the world. Greatest Vacation resort next to Hawaii.our real diamond.

Room Tip: Two rooms or more Suites are large and sunny

We, my wife and I, have been member/owners of Festiva Adventure Club for about 3 years. Our membership was originally here at Ellington at Wachesaw Plantation East. This is the first time we have actually stayed at this resort, so we were expecting it to equal what we were shown when we originally purchased. We were not disappointed.
Convenient access to the beaches, shopping, state parks, and restaurants made the visit very enjoyable. The helpful staff went out of their way to assist with any requests. In an earlier review the person complained about how noisy the condo was, and they were partially correct. Actually the walls aren't that thin. Instead it was the thin connecting door between the main condo and the extra area that turned the one-bedroom condo into a two-bedroom condo.
That did not really create a problem, as the staff was quick to call and explain the quiet hours
to persons in the adjacent rooms.
We would return to this resort agin, the next time we are in this area.

My husband and I recently returned from a week at this resort which was our 2012 time share exchange thru Interval International. (We had a one bedroom apartment in Phase II) At the time of booking, this resort had "gold leaf" status which is used to designate resorts of the highest quality ( I have since learned this status has been rescinded). Nothing could have been more misleading. The issues listed below are the ones that upset my husband and i the most- there are many more. Please note that NONE of these could have been altered by a complaint to management, at least during the time we were staying there.
-Lack of Privacy- the walls of this resort were so thin we could hear every conversation the family next door had, which ,of course, meant they could hear us. Our "patio" was 4 plastic chairs and a table, which had to be SHARED with the unit next door. It was also the designated smoking area for the units, (no smoking allowed indoors) so whenever the people next door wanted a cigarette that is where they had to go, Oh, and did I mention it was right outside our bedroom?
-lack of natural light- This was a one bedroom apartment. There was only ONE window which opened directly onto the front path. There were no curtains, only venetian blinds, so we had the option of leaving the blinds open and waving to everyone as they passed, or keeping them closed and having the apartment in darkness. The only other source of natural light was a door in the bedroom which opened directly onto the aforementioned patio. It too had no curtains, only venetian blinds. You can imagine how often they were opened. We had to keep the lights on whenever we were indoors, even on the sunniest day, and i needed to use my booklight to read in the evening as the bulbs in the lamps did not provide sufficient light
-lack of attention to detail- everything was just "slapped together" molding was left unpainted, a flat screen tv was installed but left with wires hanging, (and placed below eye height on a partial wall) the pool, while clean, was along the parking lot without even a bush to offer a semblance of privacy. No effort was put into making this
These problems along with a myriad of other small things, ( stained carpets, lack of cabinet space to store food, pool towels that were really hospital grade hand towels,) convinced us that this "resort" is really more of a motor lodge, and is using the fact that it has an on site golf course to fool people into thinking they would be staying in luxury accommodations. There are many other options in the area that offer superior accommodations for less money, and for those that have time shares- don't waste your week. Murrell's Inlet is a lovely area, well worth a trip. Just don't stay at the Ellington
