without a visit to the River City Cafe! Their menu is pretty varied, but we can't stay away from their sandwiches and onion rings. They are the best! The Mahi Mahi sandwich, huge filets of fish served on a fresh, tasty bun, is scrumptious. Their burgers, offered up in a variety of ways, are cooked to order and so juicy they drip down your hands. The chicken "finger" appetizer is huge with a light breading and more than enough for a meal. And, as an onion ring connoisseur, I have to say that these are da bomb. No matter where I go, no other onion rings come close. They are huge, sweet, juicy rings of onion with a light, crispy batter and the perfect onion-to-batter ratio. Served with an avocado ranch dipping sauce, they cannot be beat. While I've visited four of the locations of the River City Cafe, my favorite has to be the one most recently visited in Surfside Beach, just south of Myrtle Beach. The restaurant sits right on the ocean next to the Surfside Pier. The location is primo and offers a beautiful view of the pier and beachfront, not something you'd expect from a peanuts-on-the-floor, license plates-covered-walls restaurant like River City Cafe. My family and I enjoy River City Cafe as much or more than many of the fancier dining options at the beach.
