“Must see!! Bring a camera and dress pretty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2011

Everywhere you turn there is something beautiful, even children can capture amazing shots!

Wear comfy shoes, go early and dress nice. There are ample opportunities to get pictures of your family. If you know how to use the self timer feature you can get some really great family photos too!!

They have a zoo (go on the 'mother nature' walk/feeding it's included in the price of admission) you will get VERY up close with the animals!!!

The butterfly house is just ok. Neat if you have never been to one.

We went two days and did not have to pay admission again. Ticket price is good for 7 days.

The restaurant is very good, excellent staff. I had the 'lighter fare' lunch $7 for salad and chicken salad sandwich. (both days) there are other choices but it is really good chicken salad.

If I ever come back to MB I will go back to brookgreen gardens!!

“The gardens were enjoyable, VERY dissapointed in the butterfly release”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2011

I am a local and decided to go with some friends to brookgreen gardens because they were having a butterfly release where they were supposed to release hundreds of monarch butterflys into their garden after some book signing from some author. We waited and waited in the hot sun with almost no shade at the appropriate time while they were setting up for the release. Heres the comical part. they bring out this tiny little see-through box that looked like it had MAYBE 30-40 butterflys in it. The lasy opened it up and about 12 butterflys came out. Half of them were still in the box, the lady had to shew them out. That was it. Maybe 30, 40 butterflys TOPS came out. It was quite sad and dissapointing waiting all that time for that. I was not the only one dissapointed. I overheard lots of other people who were not happy either.

Other than that, I walked around the gardens and had a wonderful time looking at the various flowers, and sculptures. There is a lot to see. Also, the welcome staf was very very friendly and informative.

I enjoyed my time at the gardens, but the butterfly release was really a let-down.

“Amazing... there seems to be no end to this Garden of over 6,000 acres”

Just go if you like nature... you won't regret it. A modestly priced pass ($13.00)
is good for the whole week!

“A must see while vacationing in Myrtle Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2011

Simply beautiful. Bring your camera and make sure you take pictures under the magnificent oak trees. Ticket is good for 7 days so you can take your time strolling through the well kept gardens and grounds. Take the free tram to the low country tour and the zoo. The zoo is also a small hiking tour so make sure your prepared to walk about mile. Theres a extra fee to ride a powtoon boat that takes to to the old rice plantations and marsh lands. its about 7 dollars. It's worth it though. Don't for get to look for the alligators. You'll definitely see some.

“Wow...lots to see...but watch out for the extra fees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2011

I have wanted to visit Brookgreen Gardens for years and was so glad we had time on this trip. Had a good time, however I think the admission price is enough without having to pay additional charges for the creek boat ride or other adventures. We did the Trekker ride and the boat - recommend doing one or other other, not both. Hear same things from both guides about history of rice plantations. Did see a 10 ft alligator sunning himself on the bank on the boat ride, otherwise kinda boring for kids. If you enjoy local history this is informative. Food at the snack shop was expensive ($12.00 for 2 hotdogs, chips, 2 bottles of water) and extremely slow. Gardens and sculptures and very neat and enjoyable. Didn't have time to check out the zoo. Would recommend to others, but plan on more than a few hours to see everything.
