One of our favorite Charleston, SC, area restaurants -- where we would dine twice on one trip -- slipped off our list last week primarily due to service but also, in contrast to a new find, in flavor of food as the fried shrimp at the Noisy Oyster in North Charleston, SC, not only were tasty but also were served with cocktail sauce while at Shem Creek, had become cold between the time they were served, I was finally able to request cocktail sauce and the time it arrived. Even our three young grandsons committed on how much better the second night was than the first. Am wondering if the overall slack service was due to the automatic 18 percent tip for parties of six or more (even though I would have increased it to my normal 20 percent, had it been earned. Remember, TIPS means "to insure prompt service!"
