“Food With A View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

The Charleston Harbor Fish House is a short, pleasant drive ($25 by cab) across a beautiful bridge to Mount Pleasant at a new location overlooking the Charleston Harbor and the decommissioned York Battleship.

There were four couples in our group and we had a nice table (no reservation) with a great view of the harbor.

This is a great place for a quiet, out-of the-way lunch. The food (fish tacos and fresh shrimp) was quite good and our waiter couldn't have been nicer nor more pleasant to have serving us.

Several of our group walked from downtown Charleston across the very modern bridge to the restaurant. Not for the faint of heart nor couch potato. Those with more sense took a cab :-)

“Best view ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013 via mobile

We have lived in charleston area as NBC transplants for a year or so. We were very excited to see this restaurant being built and opened given its locale. Excellent view of Charleston harbor, Marina, USA yorktown and downtown Charleston and Ravenel bridge. You couldn't ask for a better spot and most beautiful sunsets ever.
My husband and I have Dined here several times since it opened this summer. In the beginning, the food was outstanding. We have noticed the menu seems to have changed ever time we have come in and the quality of the food has gone down. Some of the fish like the salmon on the menu tastes frozen now where as in the beginning we were assured all fish was fresh and most caught locally. Not so much anymore. And the fries are now horrible cheap frozen french fries. I don't understand how a place this beautiful in this setting and area could serve a french fry that would be considered sub standard at most cheap fast food places and hole in the wall greasy spoon diners. Why
the change? If it's for cutting costs, being a small business owner myself I know there are much better ways of cutting costs than sacrificing your product and customer satisfaction.
Then there's the service. On our first visit this summer we were unimpressed. We were waited on a a girl with long dark hair who seemed more interested in texting by the bar than serving guests. We've seen her there since and have been glad she hasn't served us again. Not only couldn't she answer simple questions about menu items, she brought the wrong food to our table and as most servers do, blamed it on kitchen. Sigh.
But alas we figured these were just growing pains and decided to give it another shot. On both our last 2 visits we have had the same server. Short brown hair guy with a short beard, I believe his name is Todd. He was very polite and attentive even when he was very busy when restaurant was full. He seemed very
Knowledgeable and promptly answered all our questions. He gave us some recommendations on trying the snapper special that night, and it was amazing. Also on our last visit my mother in father were visiting from NYC. He told dad about the Draft beer selection, and asked what kind he prefered. Todd suggest one of the local beer, Westbrook and dad loved it. My father wanted to Know if he could go out on the small patio, Todd said of course and led him to the door and opened it for him ( Dad is getting frail in his old age.)
Since the place was pretty empty on a friday, Todd took sometime and talked with my father on the small deck. He offered suggestions on things to do downtown, other places to eat downtown. He gave information on the history of the Yorktown and then upon finding out dad served in the military In korea, Todd told him god bless you and thanked him for his service. He said he looks up to and respects anyone who has fought for and protected our freedoms.
Todd then helped dad back to the table before our meal arrived. My father sat Down and told us how smart our server was and that more young people today should take a note and give appreciation to military people. He said their conversation had impressed him greatly a day had almost left him In tears. This alone made our night fantastic. And everything todd had suggested we try, even the wine and beer, was excellent. 2 of us had snapper special. the other 2 had the tunny fish. These dishes blew the cedar plank Salmon and the horrible frozen tasting coconut Mahi we had last time off the planet. When we were eating the manager came by and was very polite and made sure we were enjoying everything. Very nice guy, don't K ow his name but he was olive skinned and kind of balding My suggestion is to steer clear of the menu items and get the chefs special, whatever they may be.
And because our waiter made our last 2 visit fantastic we will be back and will request Todd from now on.

“Beautiful view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

This restaurant is part of the Charleston Harbor Resort complex, though not attached to the hotel. It's only a short walk from the hotel past the marina. The food was excellent and the view outstanding. There is a resort boutique gift shop attached. Se had the swordfish and the scallops. Both were outstanding. Highly recommend.

“Average”

Very noisy restaurant. Average food with some exceptions. Not very exciting presentation. Friendly but slow service. Nice view of harbor and bridge but not enough to make up for average cuisine.
